let me guess, you need more?
>seriously though, is there any point after this except for using machine learning to improve it?
Opus
>is there any point after this
No
I have a small collection so I just rip to both FLAC and ALAC
>let me guess, you need more?
yes. I'm not poor and don't shit in the fucking street, so I use a better codec that doesn't absolutely fucking destroy audio just to save space.
>I have a small collection so I just rip to both FLAC and ALAC
use one or the other, you larping dickhead. what a waste of time.
I just use my files the way I got them, be that flac or mp3. I don't waste my time reencoding and my phone's 500GB card is enough for my entire library.
Lyra >>>> Opus >> Speex
for speech
Codec2 is all you need.
Interesting stuff, wonder if it will ever see wider adoption
None of my music has speech, why would I need those codecs.
Shit graph, HE-AAC easily beats opus at low bitrates
Yes, since FiiO doesn't support it for some reason.
So I use vorbis -q9 instead.
>waste time converting lossless formats for autism
nah, I'll just use whatever it came as, sometimes that's ALAC.
i will be open to using opus if the format is supported more
i need less
i cannot imagine listening to anything that is not 1-bit pure sound quality of dsd superiority you must be brown people or smth
Opus is better than Speex at 8-16Kb/s ?!
>dsd
Sounds identical to correctly mastered CD audio, but much bigger filesize and impossible to edit.
And worse quality than 24 bit flacs.
since when mp3 is royalty free and opensource? kek
Didn't the patents to mp3 expire? And there are open source encoder and decoders for it
opus is a meme
vorbis is better
also
>let's cut off the graph before opus plateaus and other codecs catch up
lol
i unironically use 1-bit crusher as my guitar distortion effect
please do not post if you have no idea what are you talking about
why would i care about file size in 2022 exactly? dsd sounds natural and warm unlike sterilized flacshit derivative off from pcm
more what?
that's just because most current DSPs are built to work on pcm, there's no inherent reason you couldn't use algos that directly operate on dsd
keep on sippin that audiophool juice
keep on shitting about things you know nothing of
but user i do
i can guarantee you that dsd music is mastered in 24-bit
MHz DSDs have dynamic range of 22 bit, lower sample rate DSDs even less.
