If I had to pick one it would be the SNES. Yeah the ps1 had a lot of cool jrpgs but the snes ones just hit different.

i started with a crappy texas instrument playing parsec, but it was really atari and NES that made it major.
Still i always prefer SNES with Secret of Mana, FF4, FF6, Chrono Trigger

i only got to play a few hours from a japanese fag that had the jap version of SNES. Same with Sieken Densetsu 2

Pretty sure Sega beat everyone else in the US market to getting "online" in a meaningful way. The Genesis had Sega Channel. The Dreamcast was the tits. Built-in in dialup modem and optional high speed adapter. Phantasy Star Online MMO, Quake 3 Arena with keyboard and mouse, web browser, light gun and House of the Dead (I admittedly enjoyed Time Crisis on PS2 more)...
Q3A and Dreamcast homebrew had much to do with getting me back into PC gaming after it died. Learned to love keyboard and mouse controls, and the freedom more easily available for modding and whatnot on PC. Still, favorite console by far and one of the last I enjoyed owning.

eh, by then everyone was on crap like netzero playing WC2, Starcraft, unreal, and CS
honestly other than N64 multiplayer, that is when i stopped playing console games. PC was much better and i never gave a shit about single player shit since the RPGs got all gay
