1080p on laptop

Is 1920x1080 on a 14" laptop shitty? I've been using a mac book pro for 10 years with a higher resolution.

I don't want to go back into per-historic times but the laptops I want only come with 1080p screens.

1080p is pretty much the bare acceptable minimum. Any display under that should be recycled and used to make a higher res display.

I dunno, I'm using 1280x800 perfectly fine on my old Applel Shitbook. Great for light coding and shitposting.

i use 800x600 on my crt to get 160hz

>the laptops I want only come with 1080p screens
What kind of laptops are you looking at?

1080p is acceptable. I'd say it's bare minimum.

average smartphones are 1080

HP dev one or System76 lemur pro. Both ship with Linux (popOS)

1920x1080 is for bigger monitors, not laptops.

They both look fine to me, it's really not that big of a deal especially if you're just doing coding shit. I also have a MBP with a high resolution but it's not really an issue when I go to use a 1080p Windows.

I'm not going to code often on them. mostly just go on the internet, watch youtube or movies. It's more that my eyes are used to higher resolution. Maybe it won't make much difference though...

x200 user here. you'll never need more than 1280x800

bigger monitors on 1920x1080? i can understand when that's all that was available but how do you get over the screen door look?

Buy a new Mac then
Dont be a pleb

might just do that and keep waiting for better linux competitors. already have so many macs though

is 157 ppi shitty? remember to zoom all pages

theres plenty of windows laptops with 2880x1800 screens

1920x1080 (or based 1200) is the ideal for 14" unless your eyesight is way out of the normal range or you don't care about money

>is 157 ppi shitty
my 10 year old mac book has 226ppi. So yeah, that's objectively shitty

I think 1080p is still OK on smaller laptops.

Nice, it's the linux version of my laptop. Why not get the normal EliteBook 845 G8 instead, is the Dev One cheaper?
Is the glass screen on that standard? 845 G8 has a normal matte screen option thank god. You know there's an 845 G9 out now, right? Available with a 45W Ryzen 9. Besides that this thing really is great. probably better than the ThinkPad equivalent, I do recommend.
t. had a T430 and T450s, both great laptops as well

I think 1080p is more than enough on 14" everything looks kinda small on this thing anyway and I have good eyesight. Apparently the 400 nit screen is god tier and uses less power, mine has the 250 nit 45% NTSC one, still looks good, way better than the pile of shit on a Pavilion 15 that is the same on paper.
Insisting on high PPI on a computer is peak autism. Consider what desktop monitors are like.
