i use the debugger heavily at work but fair, no one learns to use whats unfamiliar and likely cumbersome to them

I do that in frontend as well, several reasons:
>need to run chrome in special mode for debugging to work (security disabled)
>its not as hard to program frontend

but if I do run into issues, I do actually bother to setup debugging even for frontend.

On the backend I use it all the time. Just a matter of pressing f5.

Why don't people use debuggers? I understand if you never learned about them since they're not taught in school. But they are fucking amazing. Ive solved so many complex shitty bugs using them that would have taken 10x longer if I had to rely on printing shit out

Today's programmers basically use "editors" - e.g. an Unreal Engine is an "editor". Meanwhile Carmack wrote engines from scratch. I don't think he would even be interested in making games the "modern" way.
