Combo became the good guy & Milk got consumed by his anger. Violence breeds violence, but in the end nothing is resolved. I like that the show explored all the side characters. Shaun was basically a side-character by the end. It's a wonderful series that deserves more respect.

Yeah, I didn't mean to imply that he did Shaun dirty. The story just became more about Milky, Combo & Woody. It's one of the more emotional films I've seen that touches on nationalism, racial identity & brotherhood in a nuanced way. It's heartbreaking to watch them struggle through so many heartaches as a group. Really well written & acted series

You are totally right. The movie is a roller-coaster of emotions if you can relate to any of the characters (like I can), the series just expands on that.

Woody has the best banter. Watching his life fall apart was rough. He didn't deserve that shit.

I'm an American who was born in the 80s, so I can't personally relate to any of it. But damn if it isn't one of my favorite series. It's powerful and captures a side of England that doesn't get discussed as much as it should. Most of the world only sees the royal family & posh London tv/movies. The struggle of working class life in Thatcherite UK is something that has interested me for awhile

Every scene with Woody in the '86 & '88 series were gutwrenching. He was such a legend in the movie, but he got his world rocked in the series. I was glad to see him get some semblence of happiness back in 90, but goddamn he had a rough ride. He was a true friend through & through

My mum was a skinhead when she was growing up. Most of her friends and family at the time were Jamaican. She grew up loving ska and reggae.

Then the movement got hijacked. It was originally about being able to identify a working class person. They did it to stand put and stick two fingers up at society and the National Front started coercing the young skins into their racist ideology.

I've carried on the tradition. Still a skinhead. Dress the same way. Proud of my working class roots and always will be. If someone wants to make incorrect assumptions about me because of a haircut that's on them. I happily educate them as to why they are wrong.
