various chryslers and dodges of the 90s, the once ubiquitous neon and the pt cruiser have become rare sights. Also ford taurus and the mercury version of it must have reached their terminal mile. The late 90s ford trucks seem significantly less common than early 90s trucks, which I don't understand but maybe it's a fuel economy thing.

Pintos weren't really bad cars for time. Had a bad reputation for fires, but Ford fixed that. Unfortunately, the damage was done and the was doomed.
Basically any shitbox car from the 70's, 80's, and 90's are [thanfully] off the road (Vegas, Chevettes, Cavaliers, etc). Cars today are miles ahead in safety.
I had a 81 Chevy Monte Carlo...horrible Chevy V6 instead of the much better Buick 3.8. But my real first car was a Honda CRX. LOVED that car. Drove the shit out of it...fun to drive, great on gas...I was so happy to know Honda was bringing it back as the CRZ, but that car is only a shadow of the CRX...a neutered econo-car that loses all the fun of the CRX.
