What the fuck is wrong with my big toe (ignore the shitty nail polish)?
Three years ago I had surgery on both my big toe nails because it was cracked really badly and the new nail was growing underneath it and it was painful. After surgery it just looked like this. The other one looked kinda like this, but smaller and wasn't crooked, just had the same discolouration, but I hit it (not even that hard) and it got loose so I took it off - no blood though, and it only hurt when I hit it, not taking it off.
I had this, on the left side of the nail, it eventually got fucked because I stubbed it or something, I got the courage to pull the whole motherfucker out, a new one grew back.

probably wearing the wrong shoes, my wife had a similar less sever problem, she switched shoes, and after a few years it got better, still kinda goofy lookin, but not so bad
You injured the nail at some point and that allowed a fungus to get under it. See your doctor and get a scrip for tubinafine. It's cheap and will clear it up but you might briefly lose your sense of taste.
