Why doesn't linux just fork macOS and become just werx overnight?

Its not even bait at this point.

because macos doesn't work outside of apple's hardware and software ecosystem
a macbook without an apple account is just a bootleg ubuntu without a proper package manager

i love how 90$ of Any Forums is baitfags

1. You don't fork proprietary software. At best, you reverse engineer it.
2. Linux essentially already did what you're suggesting by reverse engineering Unix, macOS's direct ancestor.
3. As the other user pointed out, OS X is heavily reliant on other Apple products and there is little to no appeal in the operating system itself outside the context of those products.
4. Yes, I'm aware this is a bait thread, I am bored.

this is a bot thread you fucking retards
in all fields

do you actually need an apple ID now to use macOS? what a joke! no different than wintoddlers at this point

Nope, he's trolling

>cope
m8 it's true, the only time I've needed an Apple ID was for getting Xcode.
>t. uses a MacBook for work

One of the earliest attempts to make a functioning desktop for Linux was GNUstep. GNUstep is fully compatible with Apple's Cocoa, as they are both OpenStep implementations. Despite the fact that this has existed for decades, no one really seems to care.

Replying just to counter your sage
Also, this is clearly a joke thread, not a bait thread, there’s a difference

GTK brainrot won.

uneducated jurisdiction

really made me think

Mac os has well known and established hardware targets
Linux has to run on home brewed rape dildos and asshole chastity cages in addition to whatever AliExpress notebook anons are buying that week

autism

lmfao. just sudo pacman -Sy [\code]

Nice bait. macOS has the worst hardware compatibility (with the exception of Apple's Mac's) of all mainstream OSes. Case in point: read the OpenCore Hackintosh guide, then try to run it on your desktop. And laptop. With every combination of mainboards, CPUs/GPUs, network cards and other PCIe stuff.
