Tungsten's chemical symbol is W, derived from its alternate name wolfram. I believe it is the only chemical symbol derived from a Germanic word.

Tungsten is Swedish, and wolfram is German, so both its names are from Germanic languages.

Aurum is Latin for gold. German for gold is Gold

A lot of elements have a symbol similar to their German name, Na and K come to mind. Not sure if the German name is just that similar to the Latin or Greek name.
