I almost did. Caught her in a secret relationship with my (former) best friend. These were two people I trusted. They blamed each other. I broke off the engagement and it shattered my family because I left it to her to explain why and to return the wedding gifts and to cancel the church and international honeymoon reservations.

So for years I was branded the 'bastard' in the family for dumping, her virtually at the alter. Personally, I think I learned of the betrayal at just the right time.

Only recently did I discover that two of my other trusted friends made a play for her after we broke up. I've since severed ties with them over this. Betrayal has consequences.
