They wanted to change the wording surrounding same sex marriage. The bill that was originally brought in was not particularly vetted and didn't have an age limit for same sex partners. This made democrats mad & instead of helping, they decided to do a smear campaign.

That in and of itself is very suspicious, but proof of nothing. Donald Trump straight up admitted to walking in on minors changing and grabbing women by the crotch and no one on the right cares because, in reality, they don’t care about children or women. They couldn’t give less of a shit about Coon’s daughter’s well-being. They just care about tearing down “the other side” by any means necessary.

There’s a reason a common slogan in 2020 was “Make liberals cry again”. Not “Give America a tax break again” or “Keep terrorists out again”. Just a childish desire to make people they don’t like feel bad. That sums up the republican mentality pretty well.
