The quality of webms and jpegs degrade over time even locally

>the quality of webms and jpegs degrade over time even locally
Does this happen on web servers too? So the images on Any Forums will degrade in the archive over time

>your brain on porn
this is what porn does to your brain, it makes it rot

Rotational velocidensity.

No, the images on my computer are degrading in quality over time if I leave them webm and jpeg. They are pixelated junk, some of them.

It's not all bad, memes get a fine patina as they age.
Just look at this image, this is essentially what happens to jpegs over time.

Digitally remastered.

And I also wonder if this happens on web servers or if there is some way they disable the compression.

Otherwise no reason not to convert all files to non-lossy format needfully do.

>tfw my old mp3s from early 2000s have degraded so much that they are not listenable anymore

>half-life 2 install is missing some of the textures already
fuck I don't want my bootloader to fade away bros

hl2 uses lossy jpeg textures ???

it is subject to bit rot like every other data stored digitally

I don't believe you, faggot.

then you are retarded, simple as

noooooo that doesn't make sense, how does that happen?

How could 0's and 1's change over time???

>kids don't know about rotational velocidensity

Bit rot, baby!

This is true. This is a jpeg from Smash Brothers I saved in 2002.
