at least why it's fucked in the US, specifically for me and at&t got something like 2 billion dollars in grants and taxcuts to roll out fiber nationwide, they instead played with their existing 50 year old copper and lobbied the FCC to redefine "broadband" to be dsl. There are places where you cannot even choose between two major ISPs, your choice is comcast/att/etc and just not having service.
