Holding apple publicly accountable for bugs

One of the things apple is known for is letting huge periods of time go by where they allow bugs (always annoying bugs, but sometimes serious ones) to exist in their software. The only official way to report these bugs to Apple is to use the feedback form on their website. However, you never get a confirmation that anyone even read your bug report and so, many times bugs never get fixed. Recently i've resorted to tweeting Apple about bugs i encounter but those reports just get brushed under the rug because they always try to bring the conversation into a private chat which then turns into a troubleshooting attempt which doesn't do anything but waste time and effort. That's why I created this Twitter account to serve as a public record for when Apple has been notified about bugs in an attempt to make them fix them in a more timely manner. Please report any Apple software bugs to @iBugReport. The url for the account is twitter.com/ibugreport

Large companies or projects ignoring bug reports is nothing new, even in open soruce software. There's this iconic bug lack of a common feature that just turned 18:
gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gtk/-/issues/233

why dont we have porn of her yet?

I know, it fucking sucks. I think apple is particularly awful though because people rely on their technology so heavily. So many people use iphones and ipads to do serious shit. Like if i'm a teacher and i need to search a 50 page pdf in safari for a particular topic before class, i need it to fucking work, not bug out because i have too many items in my history that have the same phrase as the term I'm searching for.

Just buy a competing product then.

OP here. I have to go to the dentist and do some other stuff today so I can't really participate in the conversation but I wanted to make the thread anyway. If the thread dies out it dies out. I just wanted to let a few people know about it. Thank you and have a good day.

An interesting idea, but I doubt it'll do much. Bug accountability is something companies desperately want to avoid. Imagine if Microsoft was accountable for every severe bug that lead to a vulnerability and exploit, like their exchange server debacle, they'd be out of business in months.

You're absolutely correct. It sucks. Very little can be done but i can at least try to do something. I think it's important that there be a public record available of when apple was informed of bugs that get tweeted to them. Of course it'll never be every bug their software has but it may be useful for lawsuits in the future, national security, or for shaping public opinion about apple. The end goal is to make apple give a shit. Me doing this doesn't have to catch on widely. I'm not trying to change the world but i think that keeping this record available to the public is important. If a tweet is posted about a serious or shady thing in apple's software and they dont fix it, i can contact a member of congress or a watchdog agency and say that apple knew about issue x for y number of years or whatever the case may be.

Not relevant. Apple customers have an excuse, they actually PAID for the product and can expect a level of quality. Open source users don't pay for anything. Where is the funding supposed to come from to fix that GTK bug?

>no i will not report bugs to apple
>i will let itoddlers suffer

There is literally someone on the ticket offering money for this lol

Dickhead, if someone you depend on to do something for you uses an idevice to do it, and they cant do what they need to do because of some bug that shouldn't have been fixed months ago makes helping you impossible, you're the one who's fucked.
>Hypothetical situation
>You're having a heart attack.
>A random stranger sees you collapse and decides to drive you to the hospital because he's the only one around and it's quicker than waiting for an ambulance to get there.
>He goes to use Google maps to navigate to the hospital because he has no idea where it is because he's not from the area.
>There's happens to be a bug that causes intermittent cellular internet to fail.
>He's on the affected iOS version.
>You see him freaking out because he thought he had an offline backup of the maps area but he's from out of town so he never downloaded them.
>It's taking too long.
>You're seconds away from dying.
>Your final thought on this earth is whether to say iToddlers btfo or not.

i dont associate with iniggers
so here's a more realistic scenario
>itoddler having a heart attack
>can't connect to 911 because his curryPhone is bugged
>iTODDLER BTFO

Oh god why has it been so long...

bureaucrats need to have the NTSB of IT. Guess why they dont do it

>Satania poster thinks he's smart.
>Doesn't understand how hypothetical situations work.
>Claims to not go out in public
>Probably telling the truth.
>Thinks that when given a hypothetical situation you can change the circumstances of it.
>Itoddlers btfo amirite,?

And how much money are they offering? Your $2 is not enough to fund anything.
