Yes, VSCodium.
I wish to write my own GTK4-rs based VS Code clone in future though. It's not going to be an easy task but I don't want to rely on Microsoftshit forever.
Understandably the UI is not going to be as flexible because it's not really web based but Relm4 (1) seems to be a decent option.

VSCode is absolutely garbage and can't be considered an IDE. All the plugins you just listed only work for small projects. Try refactoring a project with multiple modules. Lmfao VSCode is years away from being able to do that. Also VSCode is SHIT at debugging. GTFO with your small REST API projects you nigger.

ITT: deluded freetard thinks his emacs have better plugins than VS Code

VSCode/Codium is the best imo. It's blazing fast if you use an SSD and fell for the16 GB RAM meme. The Vim plugin is based too. Besides VSC, Kate and Geany are good options.

QtCreator for C++ and Jetbrains

ITT: deluded freetard thinks Qt creator even has support for polygot project refactoring

Nice English. I fucking knew it. Also you're wrong.

What should I use instead then?

Emacs

Depends on what you're working with.

VSCode
VSCode and VSCodium are basically the same thing, but Codium is a cringe name.

VSCopium is not the same as VSCode.
VSCopium can not run some killer plugins like Remote SSH because it lacks the proprietary Microsoft APIs. The price of those is telemetry, and no, you can't totally disable it.

mainly bash scripts, powershell scripts, python, c, c++, java
(probably barely any java)
I want one that just werks (as in I can easily set it up to debug it via hitting F5, kind of like VSCode)
Yeah I agree, I'm just using it because its automated builds of the completely open source code version of VS Code
I guess they took the Chrome -> Chromium naming scheme and copied it.

>The price of those is telemetry, and no, you can't totally disable it.
What's wrong with the telemetry? Its a basic ass telemetry. Error reports? Don't give a shit

>mainly bash scripts, powershell scripts, python, c, c++, java
Jetbrains

Ah, never used it, but that makes sense.
Never cared about disabling telemetry, just the price for using it.

Some people don't like not having control of the software running on their machines.

The problem is it having unique machine IDs attached everywhere.
It's OK to be constantly tracker by it, Loonixers agree too - freedesktop.org/software/systemd/man/machine-id.html

You do have control? You just, don't install it?
