OP has been yet again co-opted by a biased individual. For instance, the 6700 XT is only the competitor of the 3060 Ti, and the CPU recommendations are confused to say the least.
Additionally, lines like >Nvidia requires more wattage than AMD for same performance betray an obvious bias, considering even at the high end, the 3080 and 6800 XT only have a power delta of about 25W at stock.
i am aiming to play games at 1080p high @ ~144 hz i currently have an i7 6700k and a GTX 1060 6GB i have a couple of upgrade options that i want your opinions on
option 2: >upgrade i7 6700k to an Xeon E-2286M (basically an i9 9900k) >upgrade GTX 1060 6GB to RX 6600 XT / RX 6700 / RX 6700 XT (idk which GPU would go better)
option 3: >replace platform >upgrade i7 6700k with i5 12400f or R5 5600 >upgrade GTX 1060 6GB to RX 6600 XT
option 4: >do nothing and wait

I have an i5-6600 and an RX480 (with 8gb of Vram) and I get terrible performance in RDR2 even with settings at minimum. I'm not fussed about high quality graphics, so is it my CPU that is holding me back?
