i used to have it all set up but now i'm in the same boat as it's better that way

Is there a way to make subs show up only when I move my mouse / hover over?

image the smell

laundry detergent?

I dont have one but my subtitles look like this in gabriel dropout, yes they are subtitles which can be turned off for instance not a part of the video itself.
It says when I enable them 'en FFF edited', there is no subtitle file in the folder so it must be something about the video file which tells it to use these subtitle style.
How does I replicated this for other videos? Is it stored in the mkv metadata?

You could script it. Mouse position is a property that you could observe so you could show the subtitles for some period of time whenever it moves.

What scripts do you use? I use autoloop.lua , bookmark.lua, gallery-thumbgen.lua, playlist-view.lua and nextfile.lua. Am I missing any essential ones?
