Thoughts on this klx230 as a first bike...

Thoughts on this klx230 as a first bike? I'm 5 ft 5 manlet and have to lean on side tippy toing with this bike so I can't go any bigger. Will just be to commute to work and fuck around with on trails during weekend. I will be avoiding freeways easily

Bump

You may want to look into the drz 400, due to the fact you'll quickly grow out of a 250-class bike.

(My first dual-sport was a TW200 back in the day)

The only point in getting a more powerful bike is to use on freeways. Am I wrong to think this? I love the aesthtics of this klx and it should suffice for street/trail use. Am I wrong?

Driving an offroad bike on the road is fucking stupid.

Looks cool. I always wanted a dual bike. But I heard the maintenance for these are a pain in the ass

It's a dualsport not a dirtbike

>im short and think a bike will get me laid
Absolute cringe, everyone will laugh at you.
Maybe kys in a way that preserves your vital organs

Holy fucking projection.

It has offroad tires. You better hope you dont hit a wet spot or your leg will be broken in three places.

If you think that's the bike you then go for it; a 230 will be enough to have fun on the trails.

(But as riders, we always eventually crave more power whether it be off-road or on.)

Off road tires or not I don't plan on riding a motorcycle on wet roads
I see what you're saying. Luckily these bikes seem to retain value decently

You'll love the maneuverability of a smaller bike like this

get a pitbike manlet

Any bikes better than. None tbh but dual sports are not very well suited for shorter riders because of higher seat and ground clearance. better to start on a small to mid size street bike.

If you're actually going to ride trails, it's a good first bike. If that's more aspirational than realistic, there are plenty of street bikes that would be better commuters.

Someone mentioned maintenance is pricy on this type of bike?

Man that's a suicide ticket, you'll never understand what pieces of shit are on the road till you compare riding a tiny rig that can wreck and a real vehicle that's between 30-60 tons. At like 15 tons people will cut you off and it's a real oh shit sometimes. But that thing is people will straight up try to run you over in any vehicle with more wheels. You're going to get murdered driving around that vulnerable.

On a freeway sure, on regular streets very unlikely if I'm careful

I hope you're right and pretend to make memes that works because I really like to get myself a bike. People on the road man you can't even carry a gun in regulations in some states with a motorcycle. I'm not saying you don't have enough bike but even 20-30mph that's the worse accidents you can ever find. Are you going to get drunk and blast through like 200mph? Yeah most drunks don't. They're going to be people that straight up act like a quentin terrintino movie with a fetish about causing accidents. It's really how the world works.

I've own bikes as large as 1200cc and still have a small CRF250L. There is something to be said for small, nimble bikes you don't need to wrestle with for secondary roads, gravel, and trails. I'll probably never sell the 250.

If you aren't planing to ride off road then get a street bike. They are much lower. Ninja 400 or cbr 300 will go faster and be lower. If you want to go offroad they are fine, Yamaha TW 200 is even lower.

Same here BMW 1200 GS and CRF 250 Rally. Thinking about getting a CB 500 X to slide in between them.

I run a 250 dual sport and it's taller than a reg mx 250, if you're planning on commuting to work(I wouldn't) you might look at some older street bikes. Or, if you're actually mechanically inclined you could always shave the seat down or run a lighter rear shock.
PS: don't forget, if you are going to be riding a bike, you're gunna lay it down or wreck it sooner or later, we all do. I had two broken ribs, tons of soft tissue damage and couldn't use my shoulder for weeks, and have a giant muffler burn on my calve from the last one, which was the bike fliping and landing on me coming out of a corner burm with too much throttle.
