Everyone has a line that if crossed they will consider suicide a viable option. For transtrenders the realization that they will never have the identity they want is often enough. Once they realize that all the hormones and surgery aren't gender, but the performance of gender, they can't reconcile that with themselves and lose all sense of self identity and thus their drive toward self preservation.

If that is how you really think evolution works please go read Darwin's On the Origin of Species. Darwin said that the one that survives is not the strongest, nor the most intelligent but the most adaptable. The phrase "survival of the fittest" comes from Herbert Spencer and is largely taken out of context. There is far more to evolution than just survival of the fittest.
