Vent post: I am forcibly trapped in my home and my parents refuse to even teach me how to drive. I'm at the point where I'm about to download Grindr, what skills can I learn to get other men to want to help me get out of my situation?

There are mens groups on meetup dot com where men support men. Like a sharing circle (not sexual circle jerk stuff), mentoring groups. You could do volunteering to get experience and skills. You could approach house framing construction sites and ask if you can do site clean-ups for $ or in exchange for training. If you do a good job you can make a good living building houses. You can go to a trade school and learn plumbing, electrical or construction. You could learn to drive heavy equipment at a school for that stuff. Lots of options. But I'd start with volunteering at say, your local food bank. Meet people, socialize, let it be known you are wanting to learn new skills. Learn to read a tape measure too for the construction part.

If too young, go get yourself a bike or a bus pass so you can be mobile. Get a job of some kind (Mc D's or paper route). Save $ to go to a driving school. Pay for it and get your license on your own terms. Continue saving until you can go to a big rig school. Get license to do that. Now you have a career driving rigs or dump trucks. You could always continue school and go a different route. Just trades get you cash NOW rather than much later (doc, lawyer, astronaut, pilot, office drone).

(OP) I'm surprised and thankful there are responses. I'm already regretting it because I was in a bad sense of mind writing this. I feel like my life is just me becoming an inept middle-age man who refuses to grow out of his issues (I'm in my late 20s rn) and I have no clue where to go or what I want to do with my life anymore. I live on the outskirts of two cities that are 7-8 miles away, if I didn't care about what my parents thought about me I'd be walking more often. You can get pretty decent bikes for free at a recycle depot/garbage depot. I have one in my town and there are easily 100 bikes free for the taking at any given point in time.
