>not even to sweep the fucking floors

At least I don't have student debt. Maybe I should just go to trade school and settle on becoming a plumber, or something? I'm getting tired of everything.

Hey bro, don't give up! Keep looking. And while you're at it, make films to add to your portfolio.

Uh what lmao.

That's not how any of this works.

Do you have a portfolio?

>degree in filmmaking
>dont make a film
>ask others for work
Ladies and gentlemen, the omega male.

I dead-ass see this shit all of the time on Facebook.

>went to school for an art degree or something similar to one in which you have to actually produce work to show others
>be either terrible at art or never put a portfolio together
>"Why is no one hiring me? I have a degree."

You could have a masters of filmmaking but if you're terrible at it, no one will hire you.

Are you an idiot? Make films for your portfolio

A portfolio of only two shit films. During college I was taking classes on theory, and by my third year I was finally getting into my production classes. But right as I'm about to, the pandemic happens, and I spend my last year of college alone in my room doing zoom calls and writing essays on what I would've been filming.

I don't feel motivated to do any of this anymore. I didn't get into graduate school, I'm broke, and I have no friends to collaborate with. What I wanted to do was get a job as a production assistant, but all the PA jobs I applied to never responded.

At this point I'm getting tired of it all.

cinema cameras are stupid cheap now. get a fucking blackmagic cinema camera (the original) for like $500 on eBay, get a $200 lens and start making films.

not hard dude.

>Maybe I should just go to trade school
Yes. Due to liberal policies, you can no longer go straight into your desired career anymore, so you'll have to start off by making yourself financially stable first so that you can spend more investment into persuing your prefered career.
The moar you know.

Again, why aren't you filming now?

Cinema cameras aren't thousands of dollars anymore. Buy one. Do a film. Literally anything is better than wallowing in grief over the fact no one will hire someone with zero experience or even a portfolio.

>hiring actors
>lighting equipment
>monitors
>crew
>hair and makeup
>wardrobe
>locations

not cheap dude, and my job making pizza isn't going to cut it

Because I have nothing of substance. Everything has been done before, and there's no point in even trying now. Sure, maybe I'll make something. But what will I do with it? Will an amateur movie get me work? Nah, you need to know people. That's something I learned. Nepotism over hard work.

how much for a pizza with mushrooms and pepperoni

fuking make film everyday. rebrand your bs.
"media marketing specialist"
make some lulzy videos for fake or products that dont exist. you can prolly work for netflix.
you can prolly work doing all sorts of lulzy shit, but film making is a love of the game career.

20 dollars

You're in trouble if you honestly can't put together a decent rig for under $2k, figure out lighting and the actors.

Being a PA does not get you more jobs. You know what that gets you? More shitty PA jobs.

Truth user is that you're victimising yourself and sound like a loser -- you don't need any of the things you listed to be making films, you don't even need to go to film school -- shoot anything you care about, do the lowest budget version of it, no nothing, put it on YouTube, doesn't matter, create.

Are you in the USA? We are at full employment with a hiring shortage so you must be autistic as fuck

I am an IATSE stagehand. I make about $80,000 a year working in film. I never went to college.

Because they're racist af.

Honestly this. Do whatever it takes it will be worth it. Also try to find a way around the racist troops etc.

You may need to apply specifically with white old actors and agencies and try making some start up film and do sundance.

>get a useless degree
>complain on a chinese cartoon forum about not being able to find a job
not gonna make it

Why don't you find your local hall and go talk to them. If you can show up to work on time and shut the fuck up, you can have a career.

iatse.net/

Just find someone funny and film a comedy you dumb cunt.

I'll get you a job as a PA user, but only if you're in LA. Also, any anons out there that want to work in the film industry or go to film school or whatever. Don't do it, your life will suck and your dreams will never come through.
