you baited this thread with politics. don't suddenly try to act retarded about your actions. if you don't want it to turn into a political shitshow, then don't be political from the start.

Greetings fellow penguin lovers! Let's do some productive Q&A! Feel free to choose a question to reply to, or make one yourself. I'll dump my own thoughts on the questions.

>Do you open all/some of your configuration files upon starting up your system? What are these configuration files? Do you open anything else upon startup?
I have a custom widget named Conky for my Linux Mint 20 Cinnamon. It's good looking and useful. Displays things like CPU speed, RAM, etc. It works pretty good stock, but I recently started customizing config files, after realizing I could. I guess another good config file to open on startup is .bashrc. What else is a convenient file to open upon starting your Linux system?

>What is your preferred documentation/notetaking method? Do you have a favorite text editor? Why is it your favorite text editor?
I have used many text editors at this point. They're not all the same, and some are better than others. At my sysadmin job, I have to use Windows so Notepad is the thing I use. It's like gedit, but I can't figure out how to customize colors in Notepad. On Linux, gedit has built-in customization options in preferences. It comes stock on a lot of Linux distros. As far as in-terminal text editors go, I like using nano more than vi/vim. Vi and Vim have unique, complicated controls. I only use vi when there's no other option. My most preferred downloadable text editors for a Linux Distro are CherryTree (which comes with Kali) and Sublime. These are utilities which are far more powerful than a simple text editor. Both CherryTree and sublime can compile code. CherryTree does it stock, and with Sublime you have to install stuff.

>Has anyone here modded a text editor like nano to compile code?
It would be really cool if I had Python on nano with autocomplete.

>What is your preferred method to run terminal commands upon startup?
Mint has a built-in Startup Applications utility. It lets youcreate custom scripts, but the UI sucks.

I stand by that shit. Cry about it. Literally just a random ass picture. If seeing communism out of context upsets you like that then you just gotta cry about it faggot. No one meant anything by it.

mangohud is great for games if you want something like conky to be shown in games.
>What else is a convenient file to open upon starting your Linux system?
some DE/WM provide their own autostart system. there is also xinitrc and if you use wayland, there is xdg autostart
>~/.config/autostart

you are free to go back to your own safe space imageboard. the name was already mentioned above mate. you have your own dedicated tech board there with the ideology you prefer.

Playing with this and ffmpeg also doesn't like m4a and mp3s. This leads me to believe that something is fucked with the encoders I chose. Should I just nuclear option and enable every USE flag?
I don't know what you expected from a board populated by ameribots and Any Forumstards which sperg out on instinct (or command). Hide the posts and pay no heed.
I like display managers more than just an autostart into a DE/WM.

I'm not a leftypol. They can't meme.
>But I can

>posted a blatant communist meme
>surprised pikachu you derailed your own thread into politics.

>not leftypol
>posting their memes
yeah, and i'm the king of england mate
