>windows store
full of pajeets reselling GIMP for $10

>windows app store
everything is spyware, ugly looking, globohomo, closed source
>linux app store
everything is free, safe, perfect for gorgeous looks, freedom, open source, you can host your own repo for the store
that's it

forgot to add you also can't create an account in the linux store which is obviously a pro

I always delete app store in Linux

no one uses app stores in gnu slash linux they just use the package manager

some distros had "app stores" even before the word "app store" even existed.

no one here trust microsoft or any corp really. if red hat a store to buy or download non libre apps there would be threads about it

/thread

app stores are retarded, something like a gui package manager (i.e. synaptic) is fine though

>windows app store
can't add your own sources / repositories
managed by a shekel-hungry globohomo NSA good boy corporation

>linux app stores
can add your own sources / repositories
managed by the user

...

Linux is a kernel, it does not have an app store.

Has noone actually managed to distribute malware on the official repo for a Linux distro?
Seems like it'd be pretty damn easy. Not like anyone's gonna check if the binaries you provide actually match the source. Or even that the source you use is the exact same as the official source.
And naturally 99% of package maintainers are complete unknowns that the actual software author has never even heard of so communication between the two is non-existant.

Linux "App Stores" are front-ends for the package manager.
The Windows App Store is NOT a front-end for NuGet, it's a separate thing entirely with exactly ONE repository and no ability to modify it.
Also Linux "App Stores" suck ass, terminal is the only way to properly install packages on any OS, including Windows.

nah linux "app stores" are good for browsing everything you have installed, so you can remove shit during spring cleaning or what-not.

deal with it
sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade -y

kek, good memories.

It's obviously possible, it's just that no one really cares. The effort required to pwn a major distro repo outweighs the reward.
GNU/Linux malware is usually aimed at shit like IoT and webservers instead.

>Has noone actually managed to distribute malware on the official repo for a Linux distro?
Not in any mainstream distros, and never heard of it happening in niche distros.

>Seems like it'd be pretty damn easy.
It's really not. All major distros have a review process, signing keys, and multiple package jannies monitoring other package jannies.

>Not like anyone's gonna check if the binaries you provide actually match the source.
That's exactly one of the major steps in the review process, and package jannies always inspect the build process and sources, without exception.

>99% of package maintainers are complete unknowns that the actual software author has never even heard of so communication between the two is non-existant.
Major distributions have policies which state that a package maintainer should be in communication with upstream developers. It's a necessity.

Tldr: Every single point of your post is retarded, which is a major accomplishment. High five, faggot.
