So let me explain.

I live in washington near seattle, and the whole 15 dollar minimum wage thing happened years ago in seattle, which was a jump up from the state 11. Only applied to Seattle however.

It passed despite protests of people like me (not actual protests) and the following things happened

>smaller businesses suffered due to a near 50% hike in wage costs
>Several buisnesses outright left the area because fuck that shit (one company I know of literally moved and got a new warehouse a few streets over just to avoid this)
>many jobs were LOST, because companies asked "are you REEEAAALLY needed?" to a lot of jobs, and fired anyone unnecessary.
>Work in seattle became semi prestigious even if you were flipping fucking burgers, because anyone working for less than 15 would get an immediate payraise if they worked in seattle, causing a market shift where a lot of semi skilled labor left elsewhere to do horribly unskilled labor.
>Because of the wage, the less jobs, the people migrating in, ect, competition for work in seattle went from normal, to fucking crazy, even getting a job in mcdonalds in seattle was harder, because plenty of people wanted it
>Prices of shit in seattle, and to a lesser extent elsewhere went up.

money isn't generated from nowhere, and making EVERYTHING cost more via labor will make the raise almost moot.

other countries have minimum wages today which exceed $15 american/hour and are somehow not collapsing. adjusting for inflation the peak of the minimum wage was ~$12/hr and yet the economy didn't fall to pieces in the 60's
