How to clean a glass pipe? It's all bunged up from not using a screen. I have pipecleaners but they're too flimsy to get in there.

Is there a chemical way I can clean it? Eg boil it in salt water?

Use high % isopropyl alcohol with near boiling water in either a bowl or your sink. After that, run water into the pipe and it should be fine

Run hot water through it in the sink and see what comes loose first, sometimes that's all it takes. Be prepared to clean up resin mess in the sink afterwards with rubbing alcohol. for old hardened old resin you can put it in a ziploc baggie and soak in rubbing alcohol overnight to break down the resin, then rinse/repeat as needed.

Cool.

What about a method to poking it out that I haven't thought of? Like I say pipecleaners are useless and the inside of a pen is too thick.

bend a paperclip to get at the tough bits, but the running hot water should do most of the work for you, just be careful not to spray it all over the place

Dryer sheets work well with rubbing Rez off of surfaces

Use 99% rubbing alcohol and salt. Add both together in the pipe and shake until clean. If needed pour it out and add fresh salt and alcohol again until clean. I do this every few days with my pipes.

yeah you're not wrong there, but some of us have fancy glass pieces we want to keep using

Get some bottle brushes. See pic related. Available everywhere.

Or google "bottle brush" and buy online. Get the ones with nylon bristles so you don't scratch it up.

Whenever I clean a glass pipe, I use isopropyl and table salt. Put everything in a plastic sandwich bag (ziplock), make sure the pipe is submerged in the alcohol/salt solution, and put it in a microwave oven for 10 seconds. Shake the pipe around in the heated solution until the solution looks dark like the resin, then use your pipecleaners to get at the stuff stuck inside. If that doesn't clean it 100%, do the process again until you're happy with the results.

Also, get a metal pipe. They're much more efficient with burning your bud, and they're infinitely easier to clean since it can all come apart easily.

The bong cleaners work great, some are even reusable! Only problem is it normal is more pricey to keep buying that vs salt and alcohol.

glass pipes are the worst. they're a bitch to clean, and once you've finally got them clean, the damn screen keeps trying to jump out the bowl. metal pipes also suck. even though you can take them apart, the resin always ends up gluing the pipe together, anyway. wooden pipes are the best. the resin can soak into the grain of the wood and nature the pipe over time. just run a pipe cleaner through it while it's still hot after you're done smoking, to prevent clogs.

Anyways, not gross at all... and that's coming from someone who would have agreed with you until I finally bought a metal pipe for the first time a couple months ago. Been smoking for about 18 years now.

You need Tupperware to fit the pipe
99% isopropyl alcohol or other organic solvent like acetone or methanol.
Salt, sand, or something abrasive to help break up the tar

Put the pipe into the Tupperware.
Submerge the pipe in the solvent.
Close the lid and shake the Tupperware until you start to see chunks in the solvent.
Open the lid and add the abrasive material.
Close the lid and shake once more for around 30 seconds.
Let sit for 1-2 hours shaking occasionally.
Shake for one final time.
Remove the pipe and rise under hot water.
Repeat steps until clean.
Let air dry before use.

You can also just boil the pipe for 15 minutes but it will make your entire house smell like reclaim.
