Mint and then realize getting any major game with modding capability working on linux is nigh impossible unless you have a lot of time and autism
linux has not moved an inch since 5 years ago when i first tried going down the rabbithole, only thing thats changed is proton's existence, getting games to run with that is great but actually modding them in any major way with outside programs is just asking for trouble.
Oh and linux's sound system is utterly retarded and wrapped in several layers of retardation, something linux spergs never mention because any sane person would look at it and go "ok back to windows".
Only go to linux if you have genuine reason to that doesnt include "le microjew" because right now the beast system OS is still better.
What Ubuntu would be good? Simple Ubuntu or things like Linux mint?
Understanding that if you give a shit about video games at all you're just gonna dual boot windows like every other linux "chad" anyway.
Just use main line ubuntu. LTS is fine
Personally i use fedora silverblue for a specific use but i have no problem using ubuntu
Linux is not video games, user.
Why don't you guys post on
get some liveboot usbs of Desktop Environments that look appealing and play around with em
install the one you like most and go from there
distro doesn't really matter except for package manager used and repos available
i've used arch as my first distro since ~2016 or so and with archinstall or EndeavorOS its really easy to get into and has a ton of package availability, especially with the AUR
can't stress enough how this made moving over to Linux easier because I didn't need to hunt things down or create my own packages for much (if anything)
valve picked arch as the base for SteamOS so for gaming that's a good bet as well
Ubuntu is the most popular, or has been for a long time and thus has more official support from some enterprise or creator products, that sort of thing
worth a shot if you want to sit in the "popular camp"
good resources:
>search engines
>arch wiki
>gentoo wiki
Linux mint is a great place to start user, shit just works there and the default interface is really similar to windows so you will not get lost.
Best of luck in your linux journey
Regular ubuntu is fine if you've never used it before. Maybe Kubuntu if you like Windows, I think the steam deck also uses KDE Plasma for the desktop.
Do I need to install any drivers on my own if i want to use arch?
I boot Windows purely for one SteamVR platform, and its not even a game.
>linux has not moved an inch since a year before Proton was released
lol
lmao
This guy's entire opinion may be safely discarded.
depends on hardware
if you're on amd mesa is usually pulled in as a dep pretty quick and I'll bet the EndeavorOS GUI installer asks about your hardware and will install either mesa or nvidia packages as necessary anyway
if you go bare arch just make sure you install the nvidia package, archinstall might ask about gpu drivers as well but I honestly haven't ever used it thus far
youtube.com
here's a video to skim through that shows the install process if you want a preview of how EndeavorOS' install process works
its just arch with a frontend installer
Does anybody know how to setup a controller in gnome? How do I map analog sticks?
woops im retarded and grabbed the wrong link
youtube.com
Mint is a terrible meme distro, stop recommending it
if you have a recent kernel it should all be baked in natively
I think I fucked around with Proton Experimental too much and now I can't get certain games to launch on steam no matter what version of proton I use. I seem to remember someone saying that this could happen? is there some folder I have to delete? I can't get Elden Ring to start and so far I've tried
>trying the recommended proton/experimental
>trying the latest GE
>deleting the prefix and starting over
And it's still not starting.
if you go to your steam dir and to compatdata you can delete a specific game's WINEPREFIX (its the same number as the game's appid)
this can help sometimes when steam gets confused
actually wish this was my desktop, how do i?
>NOOOOOOOOO YOU DONT UNDERSTAND I NEED ADOBE SO I CAN MAKE A COLLAGE OF MY BVLL STRETCHING MY HOLES
OP fucked up by not explicitly mentioning video games in the original post, but it's pretty clear from replies that the current topic being discussed in this thread is Linux GAMING, which is on-topic for this board. Screaming "NOOO YOU CAN'T GAME ON LOONIX" won't make my games stop working on Linux btw, just saying
Yes
linux alternatives are trash
What do you mean?
Yes, it sees my controller but I have to map the buttons to become usable. Is there a good tool that supports analog sticks as well?
>linux has not moved an inch since 5 years ago
nigger what?
it was nigh unusable for games back then
>$ uname -r
>5.18.12-zen1-1-zen
most controllers just have native drivers
if its not getting picked up in a game, usually steam can catch it for you but some games do better with Steam Input disabled
Code Vein is one example that has native DS4 integration that requires Steam Input to be disabled, for instance
I use GIMP on Windows, have done so for forever
you can't stop me Adobe shill
I'm not him and I'm not sure exactly what about your controller isn't working out of the box, but if you want to map controller buttons/sticks to keyboard/mouse, you could try qjoypad.
I once set it up to control my mouse cursor with an Xbox 360 controller. Never did much with that setup but it was neat.
>dino punching a soijak
Mint - Just Werks: The Distro
Manjaro - Arch for babies until last year
Pop!_OS - Shit name but acceptable of you have an nVidia GPU
lmao imagine getting mad about Mint of all distros
>qjoypad
Does it support analog as well?
I used this github.com
he says, getting mad at an image he disagrees with
Thank god, hopefully someone here can answer this for me
Reality Mod for Battlefield 3 just came out today. It uses the "VU" modding framework (Venice Unleashed). It requires Origin (not Steam). However, I can't get it to run on Wine, neither vanilla BF3 nor the mod. It's running on a Wine 7.0 prefix with DXVK 1.10.1 installed.
Any linuxbros that have been successful in etiher getting Battlefield 3 or VU to run here? For vanilla BF3, I only got up to hitting Play, using a spoofed useragent in my browser for Battlelog, hitting play campaign, and then the game proper launching but nothing happening
Apparently the problem with VU that I'm seeing in forum posts from 2 years ago is that it requires shared resources, a feature that DXVK did not have at the time and is only experimental in 1.10.1. Once I open VU, I get stuck in a loading screen with rapidly increasing RAM usage and my console saying
>"Failed to create shared resource: VK_KHR_EXTERNAL_MEMORY_WIN32 not supported"
Was anyone successful in getting this to work?
>Using Linux
No thanks; I want to be able to use my computer.
skill issue
>origin
>battlelog
>punkbuster
>mod makers deliberately go out of the way to detect pirated copies and block access if detected
That's such a supreme amount of cancer I would argue that it's better to not have any of that shit on my pc.
Why don't you ever retort what these people say?
>no adjustment layers
No fucking thanks
because the games they play haven't moved an inch in 5 years either
you get filtered by masks?
ok
Pulseaudio gave me so many issues trying to get a SoundBlaster card to work, even though drivers were patched into the kernel in v5.15.
>still playing dark souls
ten years, sorry
sure thing
>Does it support analog as well?
For mapping my Xbox 360 controller's left stick to my mouse cursor, it did.
So how about that GPU-passthrough meme to run Windows in a VM?
not much point nowadays
not even a joke
You mean all of your personal documents and pictures and porn being uploaded to onedrive without your consent, and getting forced updates, and having antivirus shit shoved down your throat?
Yeah, that's a lot better than the pain of learning the linux terminal for a couple of hours.
I fell for the gentoo meme, but as soon as I got a window system and KDE working I immediately switched over and have been to scared to go back to a terminal since. I have so many questions about it still even though I've been using Linux for a few weeks now.
>what are overlays?
>what are profiles?
>how do I begin with bash? or should I use zsh?
>how do I properly uninstall software?
>how is installation and building done without a package manager?
Too much hassle when Wine/Proton/Bottles can handle nearly everything fine.
i finally installed linux on my gaming pc yesterday because one of those threads
gotta say steam/proton has come a long way in the last few years
at this rate, and given how much even worse telemetry and ui design choices 11 is introducing, windows 10 is probably going to be my last windows for gaming
>onedrive
no account
>forced updates
happen when I'm sleeping
>antivirus shit
what, windows defender? the only shit anyone's used since 7?
>jumps into the deep end of the pool without knowing how to properly swim
Building distros from scratch is fun, but you can literally sit there for hours and do your head in. Try pacing yourself next time, user.
>what are overlays?
basically AUR for gentoo
>what are profiles?
base system set of packages iirc
>how do I begin with bash? or should I use zsh?
bash just werks, just google "bash X" and you'll find a quick guide or tutorial and learn over time
>how do I properly uninstall software?
package manager
>how is installation and building done without a package manager?
if its not in your repos you build from source and usually install to /usr/share or /opt
when in doubt, check for user packages if they exist for your distro to avoid having to do this
It's contained inside a wine prefix so I don't care, I just want to play the videogame. Do you know of any leads that might help?
everything related to software is handled by your distro's package manager, so just search how to install or remove software with the one you're using for example
>sudo zypper install xyz
>sudo zypper remove xyz
if you want to install packages without the package manager then you are going to be following installation instructions that they will provide, but the short of it is you'll be given a python script that you run in the terminal and it usually handles everything for you provided you have all dependencies
Just start on Ubuntu.
Ubuntu is not good, but it will teach you how everything works. Leave it for something better. At this point you'll be able to make the choice because you'll know what you're looking for. Fuck Linux Mint, fuck Linux Mint users.
Just start on Ubuntu and make the jump once you know what you're doing.
I actually want to take a look at LFS now because I think that will help me understand things more, but I would like to learn a shell before I go any further. I ask a lot of questions and I even feel like that there was a lot unanswered even though I took the hard way and started with gentoo right off the bat.
>It's contained inside a wine prefix so I don't care
Not that you care, but Wine prefixes aren't sandboxed.
>how do I properly uninstall software?
for gentoo:
>sudo emerge --unmerge X
>sudo emerge --depclean
optionally:
>sudo eclean-dist
>sudo eclean-pkg
just be careful it doesnt remove any deps that aren't pulled into @world
>fuck Linux Mint users
not sure why you're butthurt but lol
I haven't seen anyone this mad at Mint users since the Lutris devs went all "NOOOO YOU CAN'T JUST REPORT BUGS"
any fellow LUKSbros? what's your backup strategy?
So that's a no
>Uploaded to onedrive without your consent
You have to sign in with a Microsoft account and actively enable onedrive for it to upload files.
Just use W10 LTSC IoT and you have a minimal install with no bloatware or even onedrive preinstalled.
Personally I'd take the hassle to have 100% compatibility. If the hassle we are speaking of is setting it up for the first time.
if I have to install a secret club version of Windows for it to fuck off I'd rather use Linux.
So after reading this thread, I guess Linux Mint is the way to go? How big is it, my current SSD only has like 12 gigs left.
no idea what you read
>Just use W10 LTSC IoT and you have a minimal install with no bloatware
And the telemetry? and all of the rest of the awful fucking design issues of Windows? LTSC fags are delusional.
>Personally I'd take the hassle to have 100% compatibility. If the hassle we are speaking of is setting it up for the first time.
The hassle goes beyond "just setting it up". It's having to constantly maintain it. The fact that you can have higher system input response times. The fact that it can fuck with things like VRR/exclusive fullscreen even if you're using a dedicated GPU for your windows guest.
>bb-bu muh chinese rootkit anticheat fps games, muh adobe products
Shit software is shit software period. If you have to jump through 10 hoops just to use shit software you are out of your mind.
If all you care about is games, EndeavorOS is the current noob friendly OS.
Unironically SteamOS, Valve has a good and simple Arch Linux distro
Do NOT use the Steam Machine oriented Debian distro unless, I guess, you want a Debian distro with Steam preinstalled
github.com
>And the telemetry? and all of the rest of the awful fucking design issues of Windows? LTSC fags are delusional.
using Windows is quite painful
SteamOS is just Arch with some packages preinstalled
>steam
>gamescope + wayland (AMD ONLY)
>kde plasma
>flatpak
>mangohud
>weird defaults like echo cancellation designed for deck hardware
just install EndeavorOS, pick KDE Plasma, install Steam (if it isn't installed already), and you're basically there
>update packages
>instantly lose the talking point that it's OoD
I'm curious about how it could fuck with VRR/exclusive fullscreen if the VM is supposed to have exclusive use of the GPU.
I was legitimately planning to go with a Linux + gpu passthrough VM for gaymes setup for my next build. I'm not only concerned with software compatibility but the GPU drivers having better performance on Windows.
HOW 2 GET STARTED WITH LEENUX
>but what distro should I use arch, ubuntu, mint?
IT DON'T MATTER! DO YOU WANNA TYPE APT? USE UBUNTU OR SOMETHING ALONG THOSE LINES
WANNA TYPE MOTHERFUCKIN PACMAN? GET ARCH OR A FLAVOR!
>but what flavor should I get, there's stuff I don't know, what if I don't like it
TRY WHICHEVER ONE LOOKS COOLEST, IT DOESN'T ACTUALLY MATTER MUCH, YOU CAN TWEAK IT LATER
>Okay, but the terminal is scary, what if I want to instal
YOU CAN DO THAT TOO BABY BOY, THERE'S THESE THINGS CALLED, PACKAGE MANAGERS IT HAS A GUI AND WAY OF SEARCHING THE REPOSITORIES FOR YOUR DISTRIBUTION! IF YOU EVEN HAVE A GENERAL IDEA OF WHAT SOFTWARE YOU'RE LOOKING FOR YOU CAN FIND IT THERE!
>What if I want to install software that isn't in the repositories, it's online
GUESS THE FUCK WHAT CHUM
IT'S FUCKING EASY TOO!
DOWNLOAD THE SHIT
CHECK IF YOU NEED DEPENDENCIES
MAKE
MAKE INSTALL
HOLY SHIT, YOU COMPILED SOFTWARE, YOU HAVE THE BIGGEST COCK IN THE MULTIVERSE
>Ok, but like what about windows games, and some that aren't on steam?
YOU DOWNLOAD MOTHER FUCKING WINE THROUGH YOUR PACKAGE MANAGER, AND DXVK COMES WITH A BINARY, ALL YOU GOTTA DO IS FUCKING CLICK IT (WOW) AND YOU WILL BE ABLE TO PLAY VIRTUALLY FUCKING EVERYTHING! YOU CAN ALSO LAUNCH THEM THROUGH STEAM, WHICH HAS WINE AND DXVK ALREADY SET UP FOR YOU.
IGNORE ARCHFAGS
I REPEAT
start by installing Linux
finish by realizing unless you play very specific games you almost wont notice a difference
>Unironically SteamOS, Valve has a good and simple Arch Linux distro
Please stop. The currently released downloads for SteamOS are outdated by ten years and have not been updated to the version of SteamOS that Valve are using for the Deck. And there's no reason to install something like HoloOS unless you are running a UMPC because it comes with some very strict requirements. People should be using Endeavor or just going straight Arch considering how retardproof the archinstall script is now.
>I'm curious about how it could fuck with VRR/exclusive fullscreen if the VM is supposed to have exclusive use of the GPU.
It's still a VM. One that has to interface and share resources with a host machine so you open yourself up to occasional issues with how the GPU talks to the windows kernel, which then interfaces with QEMU or whatever to talk with the Host machine. Despite how well it works to virtualise machines and operating systems the notion of "gpu passthru setups have 99% accuracy for games" is not true at all. It was viable 2018-2020 when Wine/Proton was still shit but now its a distant option that has issues.
instaling steamOS on a desktop is a dumb choice right now since it's specifically meant for the deck and nothing else
either install endeavourOS or wait for the actual steamOS 3.0 desktop release
>but what distro should I use
>IT DON'T MATTER!
ok i'll try crux then cause the blue penguin made me laugh
>Please stop. The currently released downloads for SteamOS are outdated by ten years and have not been updated to the version of SteamOS that Valve are using for the Deck.
why'd you repeat half the post you're replying to
>posting 2010-era Any Forums memes as if they had a point even then
Shoo
Read the rest of the fucking post. There's no reason you should be using HoloOS either unless you meet the specific deck requirements and are fucking retarded anyway.
nigger if you're too retarded to get mods working for moddable games there are scripts that will do it for your faggot ass so you dont have to waste entire minutes of your life to learn something
yeah i got that because i actually read your entire post, why'd you parrot something he said himself as a point against him
Another day without GOAT.
INTENTIONALLY BAD EXAMPLES AREN'T APPLICABLE IN GOOD FAITH DISCUSSIONS!
Because I don't know why he started his post with "Unironically SteamOS" but then backpedals with "Do NOT use the Steam Machine oriented Debian distro unless". That's just confusing to anyone who has no idea.
The apps I like don't work on linux.
Tell the devs to support your (potentially) preferred OS.
>Gentoo bullying
Okay this is epic
And whats the point of dealing with all that crap when i can just use windows where everything works easily and perfectly
no i was being serious, should i not try crux?
Will never happen.
you fucking wish you had the taste to want Cell for a waifu
Yeah because you do the job of shutting yourself down for them.
ah, systemd raises its head again.
>wanted to play some games.
>instead learn about obscure autistic programs because they keep killing my computer.

>i can just use windows where everything works easily and perfectly
>where everything works easily and perfectly
>works easily and perfectly
LMAO
>and perfectly
Lel no, quit being a fucking console-warrior for PC OSes
They got already people begging for that for years.
How is video editing on Linux? I'm most likely going to install both Windows and Linux on my next PC anyways, but I also do a lot of video editing (Adobe Premiere). How's the support coming along for it? If that and games get viable support then I might just become Linux-exclusive once Windows 10 stops getting support. I have no interest in moving to Windows 11.
>doesn't hate systemd yet
can Windows 11 put the taskbar on the left side yet? immediately went back to 10 after losing that.
IT'S TWO YEARS OUT OF DATE AND COMPILE FROM SOURCE AUTISM.
I MENTIONED ARCH AND UBUNTU FOR A REASON
THAT BEING SAID IF YOU GET FAMILIAR WITH LINUX SUFFICIENTLY, YOU CAN ADEQUATELY USE CRUX
davinci resolve or kdenlive
I dont video edit though :)
Davinci for more complex stuff, Kdenlive for basic NLE needs. Blender if you're a madman
ffmpeg if you're a god
No, not natively. I paypigged the $5 for StartAllBack (StartIsBack for W11). There's other solutions that do the same thing like OpenShell.
Outside of DarkMod and the quake mods there are few linuxgames worth playing. They got a really cool tron cycle game. I enjoyed minetest but fags complain the monsters are shit. People talk about Wine and Valve opening up linux to PC games but its not worth the frustration or destroying your graphics card with buggy software.
>Windowsfags are now paying for software for basic use features
>paid taskbar DLC
sir please do not redeem the linux
use beutiful windows 11 programmed by my brother in sangomalderpardesh sir
I brought up OpenShell for a reason. SAB has the most polish of all the solutions but it's not the only solution and it's the only one that's pay-for.
github.com
why vmware?
Anyone owns Prodeus here? Does the current version still run like shit? Devs promised a native version but development takes ages.
how do people even manage to break X
even in the ancient times of 2019 people would only break X by fucking it up deliberately
I like how I installed fresh ubuntu mate and first thing after restart it throws up some errors. It works ok, but still.
Classicshell has been a thing for ten years. But you're right. It seems that on the Windows side of things we're moving more into the age now where the actual makers of the product deliberately make a previous design worse, all to accomodate advertising. So then that makes room for third parties to swoop in and make simple solutions and then gate it behind payments or patreon or whatever. Quite disgusting. It's why I've donated to software like Reaper in the past because I appreciate devs who just make good software in the first place.
>not having to do it over wifi
What is this, easy mode?
How can I have this cool desktop?
why is is so painfully slow?

Ubuntu is good. Linux mint is also a very good choice. Just take a peek and choose what you like.

We will just tell him to install gentoo.
Gentoo is even fairly easy to install, but just get the distribution kernel until you know exactly how to configure it properly.
Asking because everytime Manjaro gets brought up everyone starts talking about how incompetent the devs are.
Manjaro was shaky about 4-5 years back. It's fine nowadays, as are 99% of distros.
t. has daily-driven Manjaro since 2015
You're on Any Forums, people have an irrational, seething hatred for random things. I genuinely suggest if you want somewhat objective criticisms about [distro] to look for somewhere else. Distro wars are a thing for a reason.

After half the day troubleshooting it turned out that windows automaticly downloads driver for your device, and it did download some faulty once for hardware that wasnt even in my laptop.

>not using linux to turn an old craptop into something usable
It's like the one thing linux has always excelled at. Whenever a boomer in my family complains about their antique laptop running like shit I just pop some version of ubuntu on there and show them where the internet and solitaire buttons are. It's pretty much always smooth sailing from there.
eh, not quite for me then. I tried mozilla's multi-account containers to shuffle away tabs and that was a good idea until I switch to one and suddenly a non-zero amount of tabs want to all load at once.
my search continues.
It's nothing to do with tabs, retard. Read my post again.
I know. Bookmarks are a worse solution that the multi-account containers.
What exactly's your problem? Too many open tabs?
Yes. Tabs I "want to get to eventually (never do) so I pin them and force unload them from memory".
Multi-account containers mostly worked but when you change containers every tab in it will load immediately.
Bookmarks are a bit too long-term for my liking. Your folder icons gave me a bit hope is all.

Mine works great though, was only the driver issue which windows caused.

kek, motherfucker.
Pretty good for normies which always fuck the computer easily. It is foolproof.
its an annoyance for anyone who wants to add any packages
t. own a deck
for desktop use just use something arch-based
arch with archinstall or read a wiki
EndeavorOS if you need a GUI instead of a TUI
I also own a deck.
You know you can flatpak stuff right?
It doesn't HAVE to have an official flatpak.
Then you can install the different OS in your deck yourself. SteamDeck/SteamOS is designed for the normies.
pretty worthless for anyone who actually wants to learn to use linux as a daily driver
Most normies aint into that shit. They want to play simply.
imagine going on a tirade against linux spanning a dozen tweets then capping it off with
>oops I lied
and lose out on features like suspend and resume? you can setup an overlay fs if you don't want to be limited to flatpaks, but it's still a giant inconvenience
Then they should stay the fuck away. Linux will never be retard friendly. Literally just use windows.
It sounds like you are only one, who has that petty problem. Valve/Normies don't care about you.
yes
flatpak doesn't have everything and has its own annoyances
see: having to add overrides etc. for proper theming or filesystem access to syncthing saves
I'm keeping it on SteamOS for now, not sure how vital Valve's particular updates are for it yet and haven't dug for their session handling script(s)
yes I know I can add their repos to arch
SteamOS is very much intended for use on the Deck only right now, even via HoloISO since it has a lot of defaults that don't work well for other setups
see: echo cancel monitor setups causing frametime issues until you nuke their setup
Then you should stay the fuck away from SteamOS. Cope harder, freetard
You lose suspend and resume if you install something else. That's a huge feature, especially for something that's supposed to be a handheld. Suspend and resume actually makes it function like one.
yeah, just get used to it and cope harder or switch to the different OS.
>flatpak doesn't have everything and has its own annoyances
Uh, it actually does have everything, that's kind of the point.
>install EndeavorOS (or arch)
>install gpu drivers (proprietary if nvidia); likely done already on EndeavorOS install
>install steam (EndeavorOS might include it by default)
>enable steam play for all titles
>enable shader pre-caching
>change to Proton Experimental
>download Proton Experimental and swap it to Bleeding-Edge
you're free from Big Michael
I can't wait to watch a normie try to run and debug a lutris install script on steamos when it decides to not work. Really user friendly experience. That's the nature of linux. Put as many retard filters up as you want, it still won't change.
if it had everything I wouldn't need to use the steamdeck readonly toggle and get the arch keys set up after an update now would I?
when you think about, windows is to linux what consoles are to PC
You have already lost normies on step 1, let alone steps 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7.
installing Windows takes more steps
unironically
Well, flatpak can't really help you if you're installing non-flatpaks.
Dummy.
Might as well complain that apt failed you there.
I'm fine with sticking to steamOS for a handheld video games machine. Running it as a daily driver on a desktop would be pure retardation.
the point is flatpak doesn't have everything
>a normie try to run and debug a lutris install script
Why the normies need to do that?
to play a single video game that isn't on steam
Then the official SteamOS for desktop is not for you.
they might want to play Warzone or some dumb shit
It does, all the associated dependencies are included with whatever software application you're installing.
If you're fucking with core system files (That you barely have a reason to fuck with, especially if external applications are all going to be running through Flatpak or the Steam Linux Runtime. Yeah of course it doesn't work for that, but that's just a result of you being a total dummy about it.
there is no official SteamOS 3.0 designed for use on systems that aren't the Steam Deck
just like what eve online players are to nerds, what nerds are to normal people
it
doesn't
have
everything
I know what flatpak is
flathub doesn't have everything
simple as
There is no steamOS for desktop. You're jerry rigging it if you use it that way.
I use lutris to run my fav non-steam game, BOTF on my steamdeck. No issue here. I find lutris simple, and of course it is a bit bloatware. It still works.
should i prefer flatpak or appimages?
can i use gamemode on flatpaks?
Tell me about endeavor os.
I haven't used Lutris for much but basically none of the scripts worked except for a battlenet install
:(
>Linux is too complex! I don't want to input a million arcane commands just to get to a desktop! I don't want to see a terminal!
>okay, here's a desktop
>heh, am I supposed to be impressed?
Lmao talk about insecurity.
When lutris works it's fine. That isn't always the case. You are basically playing russian roulette with every install script.
its arch
with a gui installer tacked in front of it on a liveboot usb
I have nothing but bad things to say about every single install script I've tried.
I just made manual lutris entries for a few things when testing if the scripts failed
basically bottles
that or just used wine/winecfg directly in the terminal
try these nutz on your face, faggot
then go back to windows faggot
Fair enough, I'm a retard that deleted my windows so no going no back for me.
based
>lutris isn't normie friendly, it doesn't work
>then go back to windows faggot
>"ok"
Winning argument here, you really proved the year of the linux desktop is coming. Just two more weeks. I like steamOS and I've had a great experience with the deck running games. I like linux in general and I don't mind debugging things when I have to but it's not and will never be normie friendly. The second you deviated from the steam environment, you will have a nightmare on your hands if you don't know what you're doing.
can always just try adding a game as a non-steam-game too
has just werked for quite a few things
It works on my steamdeck. Too bad you can't get it working cuz you are retarded. Cope harder, faggot.
>The second you deviated from the steam environment, you will have a nightmare on your hands if you don't know what you're doing.
Low skill. Stay in your gamur containment zone please.
Staying in the steam environment has generally worked with little issue. Trying to install FFXIV through lutris was a giant mistake. Lutris doesn't work the majority of the time in my experience. Proton does. It took installing the steam demo and setting some flags in launch options, with a specific version of protonGE and some ini editing to get it working.
Once again you have proved me right. The year of the linux desktop is never coming. If I have any ounce of trouble getting something running, how is grandma or zoom zoom expected to do it?
Sounds like the training wheels I need.
archinstall is a TUI which is practically the same as the GUI but less shiny
either of them work fine and give you a working system
enjoy
i know archinstall isnt all that good but did you really have to call it a Tranny UI?
>The year of the linux desktop is never coming.
Keep repeating it and it might come true
>how is grandma or zoom zoom expected to do it?
Grandma and zoom zoom can barely do anything on a windows desktop without complaining so you're full of shit.
>moved to the board that hates video games
sasuga
I clapped
You fuckers didn't post enough video games
Sup Any Forums
Any Forums mods can suck the fattest cock there is.
That is all.
I like how the one thread that explicitly has Any Forums in the thread title was moved to Any Forums
not true retard, vortex works on lutris
just dual boot and use windows only for gaymes best of both worlds
i dual boot but only boot into windows if i have to
i play everything on linux
