Is linux part of your identity?

is linux part of your identity?

No it’s a fucking kernel

No, it's another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

I mean depends on your definition of identity. I mean it is a part of my life. I work with it daily. In some sense because it consumes a decent chunk of my time it is part of my identity. I guess I'll ask this. Do you consider the things that you spend time on part of your identity. Is your identity just a collection of your mannerism? The personal connections in your life? What you value as an individual? At what level of value does something have to be at for you to consider it part of who you are. I mean I could never work with it again and I would be fine, but still. I guess I consider hobbies part of oneself and it is indeed a hobby that I enjoy working with so yes.

A lot of friends know me as the weird kid using linux so unfortunately yes. I got the linux mug to make the "joke" funnier.

>is linux part of your identity?
no, it's just a tool

Being contrarian is part of my identity. Using server OS on desktop is just single symptom of it.

Yes. I've recently been referring to myself as me+linux.

let me guess, you dislike being a man?

Question for those that say no. How much time have you spent using it? How much time have you spent learning it? If you would say "I am Linux certified" or "I know a lot about Linux" wouldn't at some level you consider that as part of your identity.

kek

he actually shouldn't, being a man is more contrarian because there are more women than men in most populations nowadays.

No more than enjoying a good beer or blowjob is.

I am using Linux for almost 3 years and I know shit, I can install it the regular way with the Arch Wiki and that's it, for me Arch is the most comfy distro there is after the installation part.
>part of your identity.
would you consider windows as part of your identity?
would you consider macos as part of your identity?
again, they are just tools and if you are building your identity around something like this you are a retard in my eyes.

Is a hammer part of your identity?

A well maintained Arch distro is like owning a real nice house, but for poor people.

what the fuck is a nice house but for poor people?
your shit makes no sense

Is when my friends get butthurt I can't play some stupid game with them and iend up having to explain why I don't use windows

>not gnu+myself
ngmi

I have fsf stickers on my thinkpad because I genuinely want people to think I am too autistic to be interacted with. It's the normie repellent I need since I take showers, cut my hair, and am not ugly.
Still isn't foolproof, however.

is this the laptop sticker thread

How do I make sure normies don't sit next to me in the train while I'm working on my thinkpad running gentoo i3 with vim in urxvt. I always hope the hackerman text will repel them but they come sit beside me anyway. Can't use stickers as repellent when they're facing towards the seat in front of me.
