Where do I find a cheap crt? People keep saying that I should go to an ewaste recycling center and get one for free, but every time I've called one they tell me they don't allow random people to just go in and look around. Am I supposed to trespass and steal a monitor? Is there no legal way to find a crt in 2022 without paying ebay scalper prices?

Just look for old monitor or something, you have to think like a boomer
They're going for hundreds of dollars on facebook marketplace too. It's also extremely rare to even find one listed on there.
Go ask They are extremely helpful
You bring some old lcd monitor and leave with one or two crts in your trunk.
You dont call and ask offcourse tehy are gonna say no you just take it.
Literally saw one today at the side of the road.
>Am I supposed to trespass and steal a monitor
yes
How cucked do you have to be to feel the need to ask if you can help yourself to some ewaste just take it
Estate sales
I fucking love Alpha Centauri
Here they just give them away for free.
Ask around if someone still has an old crt somewhere.
I only rescue LCDs.
Why do you want one? Also I've seen these at Goodwill and other thrift stores
Because he fell for the meme.
How am I supposed to just walk into a warehouse staffed by people and take something without anyone noticing?
I've checked in every single thrift store around me and none of them sell crt tv's or monitors. They don't even accept them for donations anymore because they're too heavy and they don't want to do the work.
I'm buying one for a 90s computer I'm building and it would be peak retardation to use a shitty widescreen lcd monitor for something that will exclusively be used to play dos and early windows games.
If you're using small resolutions and dos games make sure to get an older, smaller one
Not only are they cheaper, they also don't have the ugly scanlines effect for low resolutions that the bigger ones have
Ans they have slower phosphor so they are usable at 60Hz without much flickering
I'm looking for any 17" crt from the 90s. They're not cheap though. They go for at least $150 on ebay + another $100 for shipping and I don't even know if they can survive being shipped.
why not just take one from ewaste, just go there with a broken lcd, and after you put the lcd in the bin you take a crt with you.
its that cheap and easy
>people actually pay 300$ for some shitty ninetys office monitor
At this point we have reached critical mass for crt reproduction, first one to make new crts is gonna make a fortune
Wait until you realize how much they pay for some pokemon gaymes
That's never going to happen. It would probably cost tens of billions of dollars to build a CRT factory today. They're probably one of the most complex things to manufacture on earth. Even car manufacturing isn't this complex.
