TLDR: because Western OS's are rly good. But why tho?
1. OS's are really difficult to make
2. US specializes in SWE and had a head start post WW2
3. Market cap matters in OS adoption -> interoperability
4. Silicon Valley is a very unique location on Earth and hard to replicate as China is beginning to realize.
5. English is the lingua franca
6. The US has a partner in the UK. They were big in the early-mid days of CS, which gave the US a leg up.
7. Venture capital - no one does it better.
