I have a Focusrite 18i20 that I use for recording and just got a pair of Beyerdynamic DT 1990 Pros. On older quieter masters like pic related, I have the headphone output set to about 75%. Modernly mastered tracks closer to 50-60%. All in all I think the sound is good. No noise. Nothing to complain about. But if I'm not driving the headphones fully, am I missing out on some of the frequency response? Should I go grab some Schiit stuff? They have a local shop near me.

Well I'm a dumbass for not thinking of reverse searching hte listings, it's on Taobao, so I just have to find a local agent and do that, at less than $1 a sheet I can nab 4 of each type and experiment.

Nice, taobao will do forwarding without an agent now but i don't know what their shipping charges are like. You select international buyer for shipping option when you order and they send it to taobaos designated mail forwarder who bills you for international shipping.
Or just get the list of agents from the taobao thread on /cgl/

the same headphones fail in the same way on both the phone and the PC? it's most likely an intermittent contact inside the plug assembly on the headphones. that should be good news, because otherwise it means you've physically damaged the jacks on both devices.
