This image really pisses me off. What is the meaning behind it? UNIX (and most notably Version 7 UNIX) wasn't Free as in Freedom. It's like making this same image but instead of UNIX it says Windows. It's nonsensical. Someone should edit this and instead put GNU instead.

It's about the hackability and versitility of the system.
Also GNU shit is far too philosophical to make any meaningful contribution, and while they started off good, nowdays it's just a bunch of fat retards smelling each other's farts.

Gnu isn't unix, unix works.

>Gnu isn't unix, unix works.
GNU works for things like, say, powering the vast majority of the world's web servers and internet inrastructure. Unix works for... 50 year old IBM mainframes that large financial institutions can't afford to retire, I guess.

>unix works
is unix still around?

GNU's Not Usable

>vast majority of the world's web servers
that could easily be achieved without gnu.
Nginx isn't gnu.
gnu is personal utilities and even those can be substituted with busybox easily.
Gnu is a bunch of old complaining farts and you can't argue with facts.
The only """good""" contribution nowdays is Guix which isn't even that good.
It's better than nix and NixOS but still nothing groundbreaking.
Let me know when they actually get their stupid fucking bootloader working.

Spiritually, yeah. Not as a bell labs project anymore though.

can someone tell me this ascii it looks sick

Learn english, but yes.

True, but most initial freetards were UNIX lovers, and thus, were open to let that fact slide.

Yes, as a certification by The Open Group.

GNU also isn't free as in freedom. The GPL is a restrictive license. You can be sued for not doing things that GNUtards want to force you to do.

>gnu is personal utilities
Gnu is gcc, bash, grub, gzip, emacs, nano, gpg, octave, R, wget, aspell, lilypond
That's much more than just personal utilities, and busybox will never replace a third of GNU

>personal utilities
>gcc, bash, grub, gzip, emacs, nano, gpg, octave, R, wget, aspell, lilypond
Yup, all meant to be used by a user in the cli, all easily replaced.
Your point?

How autistic are you? Someone just took a New Jersey license plate (which has the "Live Free Or Die" phrase in the same spot as your picture) and instead of having a random sequence of numbers and letters, it just says "UNIX."

Troonix troons need to stop trooning out jesus christ

Sorry I don't understand this meme. Explain in detail what this means and why it applies to those posts?

All better than the GNUshit btw

If copyleft was never invented, then there would be no free operating system today
Because companies would leech off GNU and not contribute back

Also how is it restrictive to require that people clearly mark modified versions? Making the community blame the original authors through inclusion of malware is a nasty practice.
