What's your honest opinion on tablets?

They are only good in form of 7" android tablet for manga and porn. Everything else can be done better with a smartphone or computer.

Waste of money.

They're great for media consumption, not really great for anything else.

YOU CANT MAKE ME TAKE THEM

Everything except kindles for reading and iPads for productivity is shit.

microsoft surface tablets actually make sense.
>super portable
>good screen
>can do anything a laptop can
>can turn into a laptop/desktop provided you have a keyboard/dock

i dont understand the appeal of non-x86 tablets, if you really need something portable, why limit yourself to shitty mobile versions of apps?

>i dont understand the appeal of tablets with more than 30 minutes of battery life

Great at note taking, reading, and emulation. If you know and accept this you'll be fine. Trying to replace your laptop or desktop with it is stupid.

They're better than smartphones.
Shame most have crappy camera.

>android tablet
iOS is so much better in any way lol

I'm not paying 4 times the price to just use tachiyomi that runs perfectly fine on my 4 year old $120 tablet

im getting 5-6 hours with my surface pro 7, thats more or less as much as the samsung galaxy tab a8.

dont really know what youre talking aobut here

Good for in bed usage and car GPS navigation/entertainment system.

>Great at note taking, reading

might as well get e-ink stuff at that point. dont know why would anyone want to emulate stuff on a tablet tho.

My iPad gets 10 hours, and it costed me only 300 bucks. Also, why would I want desktop apps on a touch device?

The base model iPad is $300 and faster than any android tablet on the market

In what way should I spell it to you that I don't give a flying fuck you autistic shill?

>might as well get e-ink stuff at that point
Because they're not great at note taking, actual note taking not just simple scribbles on the page. Inb4 that overpriced piece of shit remarkable
>dont know why would anyone want to emulate stuff on a tablet
Cause it just works and is inexpensive, plus the screen isn't abnormally tiny like every other "portable" gaming device

I can't find a use case for them. I read either on my laptop/desktop, my phone or an actual book. The games are pretty shit. Any productivity must be better on my laptop.

Maybe if I commuted a lot they'd be useful for watching media, that's about it.

The best way to browse the web while lying in bed. Couldn’t live without one.

However you'd like friend

They are currently existing in an akward middle between phones pushing 7 inch and 13 inch laptops. Good useable tablets that are not just big phones push toward 12 inch and stop being holdable comfortably in one hand. Except the iPad Mini there is no proper tablet with pen support, that you can hold and use like an DIN-A5 notebook.

A proper tablet for me would be like an 8 inch Surface. Usable one handed, can be pocketed into a coat and gives the option to be used as a netbook. But the Surface Neo never came out.

What I really miss are small Windows tablets. The fact that you can have a complete x86 computer which fits in your hands that's smaller than eight inches was (and still is) incredibly novel to me. They can run any Windows application (so long as it's 32-bit) so you're not limited to a selection of shady or shitty applications on the Android Play Store or iOS App Store; if you used a particular software on your desktop, it'd work on this tablet no problem. IRC clients, IM clients, e-mail, bittorrent, download managers, SSH, file sharing and networking, GPS navigation, and even a few classic games- the concept was so damn cool.

Pic related is what I own. The Winbook TW700 is a seven inch Windows tablet with a full-size USB-A port built into the body so you can connect anything directly to the tablet without the need for an OTG dongle hanging out of it. I still use it today and do all kinds of things with it, from GPS navigation to watching videos on YouTube to downloading files and logging into my personal network while out and about. I love these small tablets, and it was a shame to see them die out. They went for amazing clearance prices when retailers were starting to fizzle them out, but now they're fetching premiums on eBay specifically for the novelty that they were known for.

Friendly reminder

i have an ipad, it's good for making digital art outside the computer but outside of that it's just a consumer machine, the whole os is a gay baby jail i really hate it
the keyboard is also expensive as hell but it's not like there's any use for it since you can only run fucking shitty ipad apps on it

how about watching this .webm in your ipad nerd :^)

heh tachiyomi is not on ipad and there's no alternative either

>glued fabric $200 keyboard
>pen more expensive than apple's despite being unusable for art

surface go is probably the closer but iirc they have shitty cpus and are like 10" big
