I hate to say it but Linux for the desktop is just a fucking failure. I've been fucking around with it for a decade but it is still stuck in the past, ugly and buggy. Compositing and graphics on Linux is an absolute joke. There is almost nothing on Linux that isn't the same or better on Mac. Especially with Parallels there is no reason to use Linux any more.
