• Why use a PMP instead of a phone?
>better DAC/AMP
>more output power so it can drive higher impedance headphones
>smaller sizes than phones for activities like exercise
>physical buttons
>headphone jacks
>some people can't use smartphone at work/use dumbphones

• How to request advice:
>Budget
>Source (phone or PMPs)
>Location
>Kind (in-ears or earbuds)
>Sound Signature (or genres you like, important!)
>Past gear and your thoughts on them (important!)

Why are they so controversial?
Am I getting memed here? Are they worth 80 usd?
If I ignore different iems that were included with various phones, the only ones I've had were KZ ZST and Tin T2.
I liked the ZSTs but they shit the bed after about a month and the 2 pin cable kept on popping off(kinda worried since the arias have the same connector right?).
I don't really like the T2 I have right now. They sound meh, no difference between them and some random headphones.

In general, what difference is there between let's say 80usd and 20usd iems?
I want to finally buy something that sounds good.
Not sure how much it matters, but they would be used on both pc and mobile.
TLDR I just want something good

no ones posting the sharur discord screenshots anymore

Ikko obsidian is still the best 150$ iem

what do you like about the zst anyway

I don't remember it that well it was a long time ago.
I remember hearing details in songs that I did not know about using some regular gamer-tier desktop headphones.
They just were fun to listen to.
The T2 are just.. meh. I don't feel like using them over anything else. Not sure why /csg/ was cooming over them a few years back.

ENDGAME REMINDER
$70 tins sound similar to $500 moondrop

> REEEE MUD BADS
There is no mud bass, learn to read graphs. 2db raise on 200hz with df/harman tuning is ok
> REEE TOO MUCH 4KHZ
Still on a neutral harman level. 2db difference here almost indistinguishable
> REEEE DIP AT 6500-7000HZ
There is a range of ear canal resonance. There should be dip
> REEEE DIFFERENT DRIVERS/TUNING/0.5DB DIFFERENCE IS SIGNIFICANT
Read and try to understand Harman researches
> IS THIS THE BEST EARPHONES AT ALL???
No. But this IEMs one of the best choice among neutral IEMs
If you're not ready to spent thousands of bucks and want something neutral no point in buying something else

youll lose a bit of bass but detail retrieval should be fine

Too much mud, too much 4kHz, cope and seethe.

>Why are they so controversial?
There's no controversy about it, it is literally the same schizo whose done a terminally autistic crusade against Chu, now jumping into the Aria SE since the former's hype died and people started talking about the SE.
The former Aria only had Dunu Titan S and Tin Hifi T2+ as realistic sub $100 competition. Aria SE is simply a more refined Aria overall, has a slightly similar FR but still better tuned than Titan S, and is a tad bit of a different flavor than T2+, but still a safer tuning overall.
Out of these 3, SE is by design just a better investment overall, as they have pretty much fixed (after so fucking long) all of the design and QC issues that plagues and devalues their other sub $100, which are also present on the other options mentioned there.
Some user who actually OWNS the Aria SE did a very extensive review on them past thread, so it is on you to decide whether you trust somebody who owns it, or a raging schizo who spends all day falseflagging about it despite posting no IEMs.

Also
T3+ > Variations (by price)
T3+ > Aria, Titan S, Timeless, Dioko, Hana, Oxygen (by treble peaks)
T3+ > Chu and CCA CRA (by sound and QC)

Non-neutral IEMS are too different to compare. If you're prefer much more treble or more bass or more mids — it's not for you

> T2+
Lack of bass and highest treble. T2+ are good but T3+ better. It is an upgrade from t2+
>CRA
Lots of peaks. With an equalizer, this is not a big problem, but t3+ play well out of the box
> Read and try to understand Harman researches

I don't mind losing some bass so seems good.
I never used any "good" headphones so not sure how blown away I should be, anything that will refresh my current songs is good for me.
I see.
So I guess my last question is about the 2-pin connector. Are they ok? The 2-pin connector cable on those ZSTs I had kept constantly disconnecting, I even almost lost the left one because of it. In the end, I had to glue it together else It would just not stay in place.
I'm guessing it was just bad cable/QC and not a fundamental issue with this type of connector?
What about the build quality? Will they last?

No one likes Aria SE

ARIA OR ARIA SE ?

flavors of pos

SE and use PEQ on it.

CHU for the same performance

Tin t3+
- Arias have annoying treble peak at 13khz
- Arias are more expensive
- QC on Aria is a meme cause faceplate peels off after a while

Poor transients(on both)

are you getting payed?

>Aria with better QC
It's alive for a day and ppl already call it has good qc?
At least wait for a month bruh.
