How come we keep seeing GPUs with 8/10/12GB of VRAM?

Why isn't each generation pushing higher and higher gigs?

Gotta make sure it's JUST enough to make as many people as possible upgrade to the next gen every time

looking for a budget build that can run source games at max settings and can handle gmod server bloat well. currently on a laptop with an 8th gen mobile i5, geforce MX150 and a sata SSD and this thing has a hard time keeping up. any suggestions?

>How come we keep seeing GPUs with 8/10/12GB of VRAM?
Because the GPUs themselves are segmented.... you won't really need 16/24GB VRAM for 1080p gaming for example so 1080p segment (3050/3060/6600) gets 8GB

It would be good to have a chart with current games VRAM usage in different resolutions.

It's also a cost reduction practice since lower end GPUs would be more expensive otherwise

>Gotta make sure it's JUST enough to make as many people as possible upgrade to the next gen every time
Also this is specially true for green team

>Have a 1080p monitor
>Buy a GPU that's noticeably better on 2k but barely any better on 1080p
Why did I do this

Dumb ass. If you had a 2k monitor you'd be able to actually appreciate the fidelity increase.
2k looks much better. Diminishing returns begins at 4k. But that's good since 8k will forever be a meme for the next 2 decades cause it's it's barely noticeably better than 4k.
So just get a 4k monitor to futureproof. It's probably all you'll ever need till you die

I have a new 3080 FE coming in the mail, and am planning on selling it on to a friend.
Problem is, I already have a 3080FE and I've had it for around a year. It's a very nice card, especially since I upgraded the thermal pads the moment I bought it. Temperatures are decent and it underclocks very nicely as well.
Which of these two cards do I keep? The new one (with the horrible thermal pads & overheating memory) or the one I've had for almost 1 year already?

Keep the one you have, why make more problems for yourself?

>12700k has a high ass SP rating
>still overclocks like shit
I fell for a meme didn’t I

>overclocking
>on INTLEL
LMAO
the secret is to undervolt. 95% performance with 50% power consumption

are there any microatx cases like this?
can't find any with top mounted PSU

Fractal Design Core 1000 and InWin 301

Is this a good ITX fan? Only costs $30.. or should I go with the Noctua nh-L9 ?

They both have similar performance, though the thermalright was full copper, if it makes that much of a difference
