There are no benefits to running NixOS and there are many downsides.
You can have the same toolset and a better system if you just install nix on a diffrent distro.
If you really care about all the things NixOS provides, and want to use it on a personal system, use Guix.

nix is the package manager, binaries, nix-shell, nix-env. All that shit.
You can download and use nix on other operating systems.

That's why my real advice isn't to install guix, it's to stop being a brainless monkey, wake up from the meme, stop using source-based package managers like portage nix or guix, and use Void's xbps which is superior to virtualy any package manager.
