I came on around 2008-09. I don't much about early Any Forums. I heard there was a loli board or some garbage in the early days

the only truth about this place that ever stood the test of time is that it is contrarian to whatever currently stands as popular. back then it was a bunch of nerds and weebs getting together to actually discuss shit they liked while the rest of the world bullied them and thought they were uncool. we talked about video games before it became cool. now we hate video games and no one talks about them here anymore. we had a fitness board that flourished and made men out of literal fat pieces of shit and popsicle sticks and then that became popular, so now no one fucking lifts at all and trashes that board. we had Any Forums when there was a genuine interest in pc buidling and computer programming. now it's just trannies and fucking weirdos posting pictures of their desks, talking about next consoomer placebo product they can spend money on.

we used to make OC, and were a meme factory. now that all those things come from everywhere else, no one fucking makes or likes memes here anymore.

I came around that time. Free speech was never explicitly the purpose. It was just like a toilet wall, where you can post shit unmonitored and unhinged. In retrospect, this is based on free speech, but it's not like we felt censored on other platforms. We just didn't want our names next to idiotic jokes
