We're similar then. I actually avoided anime and manga like poison for a long time. I only watched a few anime that I knew from memes.
I don't like when it's like that, I really dislike when all characters are the same with only different hairstyles and outfits. One thing I really appreciated about JoJo's bizarre adventure when I first watched it was how certain characters could look similar to eachother, but not because all of them do, rather because their facial features and expressions were similar. It adds another layer of depth a story can play out in which I've grown very fond of since then
I think it's also partly due to how the media is manufactured. Sometimes, a manga artist puts effort into distinguishing the different character's faces, but in the anime, it's washed a bit smoother and suddenly everyone looks more alike. I'm glad I don't have to draw anime frames for a living.
I love trying to imitate the way things look in real life. Details, proportions, and shading to the best degree possible. Maybe it's because my newfound love for the World, but I feel like there's emotions and effects which appear in reality but are beyond words. Catching them in an image so that you can feel / experience them by looking at it is so fun. I really need to get back into studying and portraying things instead of always only constructing fictional characters, even if they're cute.
Ah, apologies, that's interesting, maybe I shouldn't be afraid to portray pores as much then.

While I appreciate the style, I personally hate drawing realism. If you were to ask 3 realists to paint the same tree, you'd end up with 3 identical paintings. You'd end up having to use a magnifying glass to differentiate them from one another.
