Because they're a breed developed for baiting, which is to say pit fighting. We made all of the breeds for purposes, that's theirs. They cause significantly (seriously check out dog inflicted human deaths by breed) more fatalities and injuries in humans. They're bad news.
Now here's the thing tho, they have the potential to be good dogs. Worthy, gentle companions. But you know who gets pitbulls? People who don't neuter and spay. People who don't properly raise and nurture their animals. People who thing having a tough dog is cool, and thats why they have a tough dog.
Honest, good people own pitbulls. I get that. But you people are largely in the company of shitheads. I don't hate pitbulls. I wish they didn't exist. I hate their owners tho. With some exceptions.

i love pits. they are fierce and the strongest companion around. sure i would take a dragon in an instant but thats outta my league i guess. but since the pit proved himself to be stronger by mauling severely a doberman and forcing the doberman into submission is why i have shown interest in acquiring myself pitbulls exclusively. its not to compensate but to add sheer power to my walks and the impact it has on the perception in other humans that from now on will respect me.
