I went out shopping with my wife today and I snuck over to the comic book store and bought my fixt booster box of magic cards in years because I figured I wanted to see them and I didn't open any boosters yet because I am I trying to decide how I want to do it and my wife sees the boosters on the desk and she said

the bad news is that they put in a pack of foil lands that are bent and reading amazon reviews this is VERY common and just poor QA on the part of the manufacturer. everyone is complaining.
if it wasnt just all foil land I'd be pissed but the joke in the magic circles is that foil land is absolutely worthless anyway and they shouldnt even have foil land because it is ridiculous.
you can get land for free at the cardshops because they hold tournaments and they just have a pile of land they let you borrow and there are so many that no one counts them so you could just takle

so each SET is a separate release of magic cards. in tournament you don't mix cards from sets. but in other types of play you may mix cards from the different sets.
the sets are identified by a set logo on the card.
the color of the set logo indicates rarity.
orange is the top, "Mystic" and is the most rare
then gold is rare
silver is uncommon
and black is common

the custom card creators have their own set logo which is a generic three card logo but they have an option to upload custom logos

I remember way back when that Yugioh would have abysmal pull rates there and you weren't even guaranteed a shiny card or anything in a pack!

Okay, now I basically understand!
It's sort of like on the Yugioh cards where there's a set name and then code thingy, just that it's colored for the Magic one there while Yugioh has some other thingies to determine how "rare" a card is and all!
