These days we have commercial programs that enterprises use since the good ones are pricey. They do good work too, even if not fully recoverable they can put together mostly intact files even after a few rewrites, of course thats mostly for buisness documents and anything that wasnt encrypted to begin with, once something encrypted has any corruption its almost impossible to recover even with the key

you can live boot gparted or partitionmagic and recover anything not fully scrubbed through the terminal

ok. Should be easy. I've used recurva to get deleted files back before and for me it works 75% of the time.
