Pretty simple rules for places I dont shop at:
No parking on the same block
Pay for parking
In a place I know I am going to get mugged
Homeless around (goes with above)
Windows are covered
Doors are covered
Security gate visible or half down
It is all pretty simple, never had an issue and has no impact on my life following those rules.
