Corruption. What coup? Yanukovych received new marching orders from Putin and suddenly cancelled Ukraine's association agreement with the EU.
To a lot of people who were sick of the state of things in the country the EU seemed like a beacon of hope for a change away from deep corruption and oligarchy and they couldn't stomach that move, so they took to the streets en masse and ousted him.
Claiming that the whole matter was just some scheme orchestrated by the US is nothing but Russian mumbo jumbo.

Because oligarchs own the country, the foreign policy doesn't reflect the interests of most of the soldiers. Little enthusiasm for some rich guys' war. Much like what the US experienced recently.

Reminder that by even Ukraine's claimed Russian losses(asset losses, not talking about casualties), and wikipedia's road cope estimate of territory gains Russia's invasion is on par with any other rapid invasion in recent history. This also includes Russia's advance slowing down several times due to ceasefires for negotiations. And compared to recent wars Russia has been extremely reserved in it's disruption of life, incredibly limited damage to urban environments, no mass cuts of power or communications.
If you use more reasonable estimates for losses and actual gains not roadcope they've outperformed everyone. You don't have to believe a single Russian MoD or shill claim to verify this.

Any "military expert" that comes out calling this operation a "disaster" because of a a few downed aircraft and a couple hundred vehicles very clearly doesn't understand aggressive maneuver warfare or military operations in general. This is, at absolute worst an "average"(in comparison to westerners) performance and thats because of underestimation by Putin himself expecting a surgical strike when any senior intelligence and army officer would say it'd be conventional and should have been planned as such.

Ukraine is a modern battlehardened military backed by the west that has had EIGHT years to prep defenses and in under two weeks despite real time 24/7 intelligence and constant NATO weapon resupplies the Russians have conquered 1/3 of their territory and have besieged most of its largest cities

Taking a country the size of Ukraine in 3 months would be a military feat on its own. The Russians are about to do it in less than 30 days.

What happens when the Russians gains full control?

You can plant in whoever you want for the government but now there is just millions of people in Ukraine who hate the Russians guts with a good portion of them having small arms and lots of high rise buildings with windows they can aim from.

The best outcome would be for Russia to realize this and pull out now, otherwise Ukraine is now basically going to be an uninhabitable warzone for years to come.

You can't piss off 40 million people and just expect an enforced government will fix everything. The country is fucked now, even if Putin pulls out the damage is done and now there's a huge population that will be out for blood on Russia.

So that the war can drag on, sanctions and business withdrawals will last longer, and you'll end up with a modern treaty of versailles situation among the russian population.

Give people food,water,medicine,entertainment,freedom to travel(internally and externally) and employment and they don't rebel simply because its "rocking the boat"
