If you usually drink a lot of beer/mixed drinks, you’ll probably lose some weight and start feeling a bit more energetic in the morning a couple weeks in. Substitute water for what you would normally have in alcohol per evening, and the weight loss with get boosted dramatically. Also, you obviously save a bit of cash.

brain overcompensating, blasting you with productivity urges but it can trigger shit ton of anxiety

Depends on how much and how long you've been drinking. Good luck user. I wanted to see if i could quit 8 months ago and never looked back.

For me, I felt better in the morning. My stomach felt better. I was a lot more focused and in a better mood. Only thing negative about it was I was a bit restless at the end of the day. Breaking the ritual of coming home, cracking a few beers and decompressing will fuck with you after a while. I started to notice it around week 3 or 4. Just gotta find a hobby to occupy your mind. Other than that, it was a smooth transition.

This is the key to keep quit. For me it was working around the house.

I've bought a few books and been thinking about enrolling in a workshop or something related.

Based Lanny McDonald

Who are you OP?

Personally, I found my life more organized and controlled. I also enjoyed the lack of anxiety of constantly getting caught drinking on the job, being "the drunk" etc

Oh man, then you start loosing sleep over projects! It was nice to be passionate about something again.

Hell yeah! Reading will definitely help. And workshops are great. I took an art class and learned how to paint.

Fuckin' A right!
