every military has a different approach.
the US has the largest GPD, largest military budget (more than the next 10 nations combined) and is generally ahead of other countries when it comes to STEM stuff, so their approach is high technology to give them an edge in combat.
smaller countries like Australia, New Zealand etc have tiny populations and instead focus on having small, highly specialised and highly skilled forces. whereas literally anyone warm and vertical can join the US Marines its actually quite hard to get into the ADF.
then other countries, like China and Russia focus on just massive swarms of disposable troops equipped with literally whatever.

i came to the realization of this after it came out how under equipped and under trained the Russian military is. I am confident that NATO would fucking destroy him, mainly because of the US military. That being said, I'm still waiting for him to lost it and drop a nuke on Ukraine. Hate that NATO is waiting for him to do something stupid so that NATO and the US can take the high ground. Fucking proud bastards are going to get alot of Ukranians killed.

No we arent, other countries are so far ahead of us it isnt even funny because we go "nah we dont need something like that, we're good" then we find out russia or china or someone is working in omsonething and we have to play catchup and act like we invented it first.

they're still are having trouble with reverse-engineering of alien technology.
