We're under a high wind warning now, and when it's windy, the derr rarely show. I did throw some carrots out the window in case a brave one passes through and I don't see them.

A good brand. And thats reasonable if things still work.
Things get quickly overpriced when you want a bit extra with that hobby.
I threw out my TV receiver a decade ago and just use it as second monitor for the PC.
Multiplexing anything more than stereo in a decent way is either pain and unpayable. Likewise with multichannel SPDIF.
I even thought about spinning my own board, buying an audio multiplexer chip and pair that with some microcontroller. The idea was to connect the three sources to all 6 outputs and have a coarse volume control or a way to bridge/upmix the signal. I've found a device that did this but that was in the range of 3k€+. Those chips on its own cost like less than 10€ per piece and even if they don't exist, there are other multiplexer available if you don't need volume control and all the fancy things.

In the end, other than wanting content to sound good, the main use of my AV receiver is as an HDMI hub. I only upgraded my last one to accommodate 4K.

need matrials. wood, screws, underlay for insulation, little bowls and plastic pipes to collect water and drain out overflow, and some kind of soft bedding that won't instantly absorb damp and go moldy
