We use laptops now.
Sometimes boomers want me to fill shit out on paper, sometimes I want to write measurements on stuff before I chop it up, and sometimes I write stuff down as it's dictated when i'm not on the same floor i left my computer on or if I don't want to waste phone battery for directions innawoods. Honestly one pen lasts for fucking years. They're more likely to be broken, lost, and stolen than ran dry.

sucks for you. we were always given free pencils for scantron tests. it's not that big of a deal though, a gel pen is like $1-1.50, smooth, permanent, and lasts forever.

Most do. I like markers though, they're more expensive but they can write on glass, wood, cloth, and glossy paper without fucking up or smearing 2 hours later.
