Speaking of him and his grasp on history, one of the weirder things I've heard him say is that society always ends up being a fight between fascism and communism. Which is bizarre when you remember that communism is only about 150 years old, fascism about 100 and both ideologies were pretty much irrelevant by 1992. Hell, I don't think there was any official implementation of either in government until the 1920's and 1930's. I think China is about the only communist country left worth giving any thought to and a lot of people would probably hesitate to still call them commies. And I think Franco is just about the only fascist who managed to maintain power for more than 15-20 years.
