Vaguely related. But my AOC monitor seems to be fucked. I've had it for like 7 years. I was still in highschool at the time when I got it.

just as bad as 16:9 because retro games werent designed to have weird resolutions. even resolution like 1280x960 is weird one despite being 4:3. and thats because most people jumped from 768 to 1024 immediately and 1280x1024 basically your 5:4 version of 1080p

Here's a cheap way to get any aspect ratio you want:
Get a big monitor (32+ inch) and set a custom resolution in software. (If it's not shit it will center the image and not stretch it)
Push it all the way back to the wall
You'll lose big chunks on either side but you can fill that visual space with smaller monitors closer to you, or cover it with lamps / plants / anime figurines
This also benefits your eyes because you're focusing further away than a typical monitor
I have a deep desk so I could probably get away with a 43" TV which is cheap as fuck
But if you really want a monitor, the largest 4:3 are 20" and the largest 16:10 is 30". Truly square is too specialty, not mass produced. There are also some 3:2 chink monitors these days I think
