DALL-E 2

Where can I try DALL-E 2? Also, general discussion on this mindfuck of an open ai

They'll never open it up. Too much of a security threat.

bump

DALL-E 1 was overwhelmed when it opened and its successor seems to even more resource intensive. No will self host and train their own but use the web one so it will collapse within few minutes.

I'm glad I didn't become a graphical designer. Or
>photographer (stock photos, wildlife, art, etc.)
>comic book illustrator
>painter
>interior designer
>architect
>industrial designer (cars, consumer products, etc.)

It will extend to video as well

You can already generate the same image from a different angle and manipulating a character within the same environment should be child's play. This will enable anyone to easily create frames for a video. They could also shoot a video with their phone apply a video filter; instantly going from a couple of retards fighting with sticks in someone's backyard to Darth Vader vs. Luke, etc. They already kind of do this in Hollywood but this would democratize the capability. I'm glad I didn't become
>an actor
>make-up artist
>camera man
>wardrobe designer
>prop designer/fabricator/sculptor
>SFX person
>pornstar
actually the last one is not true

From my understanding, architects have to make actually functional buildings, so there is a lot of physics and material science behind it, which currently can't be gemerated in the same way as just pictures of buildings.

I just fill it out, eventually they give you a turn
OpenAI has always given me a period to try, even though I'm a nobody

Nope. I'm a mechanical engineer and used to work with architects when I designed stairs, platforms, ramps, etc. Architects think matter can levitate - all the physics are up to us. I'm guessing it's the same for civil engineers working in construction. Architects only made graphical representations in my experience - same as industrial engineers but for constructions rather than products.

Honestly I'm disgusted by what OpenAI has become. Here's a post from the last thread Elon Musk founded OpenAI because it was apparent that next-gen AI requires $1M+ of compute time per model, and he felt that normal people should have access to enterprise level AI so that it's not just used by governments and major corporations. The thinking was that, much like the early days of the Internet and PCs in general, tools in the hands of normal people would spur innovation and balance the playing field.
Eventually GPT-2 got massively popular and Sam Altman saw dollar signs. He delayed its release and setup a paywall system, announcing GPT-3 would be trained on even more gorillians of scraped data. They started making blog posts about how the most ethical path forward was one that, purely coincidentally, forced people to join waitlists for the privilege of giving money to an AI-as-a-service endpoint. And "by the way," all your requests would be monitored to make sure they're not politically incorrect. If you're using their AI to generate offensive content they'll cut your access and ruin your entire project. Somewhere around here Elon Musk left the board.
Now we have DALL-E 2, which is even harder to gain access to than GPT-3's playground and has even more potential for violating their DEI and equity terms of service.
OpenAI is now valued in the billions or tens of billions range (Microsoft alone has $1B invested in it), and they're powering Microsoft's Github Copilot using models trained on open source code, paywalled of course, and are soon going to announce a monthly fee to use it. They've stopped releasing all models and weights and are now just a corporation preventing normal people from having access to powerful AI.

The best results, like all AI things are highly cherrypicked. An user with access with doing requests in the previous thread. Someone asked for

"a small frog with diamonds for eyes sitting on the tip of a pen."

Notice how:
>it can't distinguish between a prompt for a pen or pencil
>the frog has no phototropism whatsoever
>the prompt for diamonds for eyes isn't really understood

make it say diamond eyes instead of diamonds for eyes

sadly I'm not the user with access

Are you sure he didn't write
>computer, make me diamonds

OpenAI and Google are using every excuse under-the-sun not to release the models. In particular they use the "harmful images" (kiddie porn) excuse which is just ridiculous.

The thing that makes CP harmful is not the images but the fact that children are abused, raped, tortured, exploited, etc in order for it to be made. None of that happens if some pedo generates fake CP, in fact that's a better case scenario than him going out and buying the real stuff or god forbid, filming his own.

This excuse like others is just pilpul. OpenAI and Google don't give a shit about ethics or protecting kids, they just want a socially acceptable reason to keep a monopoly over this technology which is particularly insidious in the case of OpenAI whose mission statement is supposed to be the exact opposite, bringing this technology to the masses so that corporations don't get monopolies over it.
